Think I should circle the rest of the shortcurts around the CircleDock? Once the dock hides it should look maybe not as good but...
Meanwhile I decided make another attempt tp see RocketDock work out on 7. With the taskbar getting filled too fast I had to do ... something fast!
It's not just the email client alone there. You also have the option for live messenger as well as a few other things not available on other browsers. Besides it looks better when you are posting your latest "Windows 7" desktop! (you know how that goes.)
Besides just one RocketDock I had to try another CircleDock effect.

This is for Smarteyeball and anyone else who wants the Paint.net format picture of the one above in my last post, it contains all the layers of the picture.
I just use the magic wand tool and adjust the tolerance until it selects just the parts I want to delete and then just clean up all the little bits afterwards, the magic wand works allot better on pictures that more defined colours and edges an as you can see that isn't the case with this picture.
To start with open your background Picture which in my case was the grassy fields and then add the second layer which is the windows glass that I made earlier that was saved as a PNG.
Then go to your layers tool box and double click the the second image and change it to multiply.
Once you have done that, select your magic wand and click in the transparent area around the windows glass and then merge the layers down to create one image.
Once you have one image and you still have the are selected hit delete and you will be left with just the windows glass and the rest will be transparent.

Is that the Magic wand software seen at The Magic Wand you used there?

I'll have to give that one a good look for some ideas here. Paint.NET - Download
However this is the point where my results differ. If I leave the area selected and then hit delete, it deletes the Glass section and not the background: (check the History Box )
If I invert the selection and then delete, I get the Glass - but I also get a large blank grid filled area surrounding it: (same as your non-inverted delete shot)
*Duplicate pic*
Having this grid filled background makes it difficult to merge as it washes out whatever I'm merging it with:
End result. Close but not close enough
I know I'm missing something simple, but how do I get rid of the bloody grid when merging the two so it only applies the glass image and not the bloody background as well?
When you use the magic want select the area around the glass and set the tolerance to about 65% and then when you hit delete it will take out the parts you don't want.
The grided background represents transparency so it shouldn't effect the other picture when you add it into a layer.
Another tip is to resize all your pics before you add them so the page size doen't change half way through.
Looking nice by the way.

Simple I had to remove the RocketDock bar as well as hide the taskbar on that one since the "7" in the corner couldn't be removed. Besides the "whole wide world" is supposed to be "big"!
But if you didn't like that one wait until you see the new one for the supposed RC 7100 leak? as well as looking at the new sig.
After some resizing of partitions earlier and the 7100 saw the winload.exe expected the startup repair was run twice revealing some interesting details like the "Vista Classic Windows" theme.

That wasn't an option but what was seen once the installation was recovered! The first time was to try out the cd-r burned with the startup repair disk made whille booted in the 7077. That wouldn't even boot in safe mode.
The second attempt to repair the boot on the 7100 was with the usb key made up by booting from that for the repair tools option and then saw this come up! Note the Start button right off as not even being 7 but Vista there! This is one more elaborate fake by the 3/1/2009 spotted on two odd unmovable files apparently Russian found in sub of the Windows.old folder as well.
Fortunately it won't be too much longer for the genuine article so no more of this crap will be seen. Just another what 9 days for most!

I like that one. It reminds me of a Windows LongHorn wallpaper back in it's early stages. The Blue sky & green grass is soothing.
Thanks! I recently got Photoshop CS4 and have been dying to use it!
Okay, here's another one:
I'm still trying to lose the border around the 7 icon in the sig that keeps getting in the way for some good custom wallpapers. The last one there was simply a concept seeing a quick test with the snip used earlier to run by someone who works with fractal art.

Great work! This copy of painit.NET won't seem to allow substitition or creation of the circle select tool not seen on the list there. The only thing close was the eclipse select tool. Meanwhile I did some more customizing you can try out with these two ideas here for the "Birth of 7"!
Gee? Look at that sig now! Looking better for 7 all the time!

night hawk these might help
by any chance does anyone have a ping of the coloured swirl used in the clock without any black bits i have a really nice wallpaper it would fit just right in the middle of it
sweet thanks mr grim ill go give it a try see how it looks
not bad really suits the wallpaper-
Thanks! That will be a big help when providing some test ideas to an artist for some original 7 customized looks!
nighthawk u seem to favour the gold 7 so i got rid of the black box for you-
and a few more-
Night Hawk, here's another one you may want to work with:
You can get idea how that one would be a good replacement for the one seen there on the shield! Now have a look at the one you just posted.
It figures I might forget to add a few new screens in here! Since some think I seem to favor the gold colored 7 logo I had an interesting result useing that one.
But if you are really looking for something to take up all the space on the information highway you need the larger blue one!
So that would mean as long as it's on a 7 desktop not just a "7" on the desktop I presume?!
Just another 64bit by the way there.
Just another 64bit by the way there.
Meanwhile I thought this would be a new eye catcher for the x64 7 desktop here. What do you think?
Meanwhile to keep this thread somewhat on topic I had to experiment a little more with the 7 logos.
The next three are for comment asking which is the best out of the three?
Contestant #1
Contestant #2
And finally Contestant #3

Contestant #1

And finally Contestant #3
# 2 Gold gets my vote
Contestant #2 wasn't bad since that offered flexibility to some extent with some of the desktop gadgets or shortcuts you might seen on the desktop
That looked a bit more fliud there for the seamless look. Contestant #3 however offers the neutral look when looking at the distant background and then at the more prominent green/grey almost silver at the front.
Seeing that placed into circle however might give it a better chance while it remains flexible for use in a late entry of Contestant #4 called "7 of 7s"!
In other words from the four corners of the globe Se7en reigns!

Some of those are realing starting to shape up! I don't think MS had in mind the idea of personalized desktops while 7 does seem to grow on you a bit!
for mcblzr
just a fresh install of the x64 RC xD shibby!!!
You have to see the latest here while some of it may look a little familiar just the same. This one is called the "Repair Install" of the 64bit RC! The first of three images won't be a snip but illustration of how that went.
The second shows how you can still see some of the desktop behind the FastStone capture tool through all this at first.
The best part is seeing the finish with the desktop still intact with all programs except a need to reinstall the video drivers again and tweak a few settings.
The only thing off of course was now seeing the 7s enlarged even more and no longer fully viewable in the corners. But instead of some 20min. for a fresh copy and a few more hours for seeing everything go back on the upgrade repair to replace the 7 boot screen replaced by the Vista scroll when using the EasyBCD tool now sees the "7" boot splash screen with the x86 install on the second already added into the 64bit bcd there!

You know I just can't get through one day without coming up with a few more! The first is designed to keep anyone from getting confused on which Windows(32 or 64) is up at the time. self explanatory!
Watch out! The gamer's delgiht is here finally! "they're coming!"
Watch out! The gamer's delgiht is here finally! "they're coming!"
Now that's a little more colorful then some of the desktops seen for the last few pages here. as things go I came up with a test pattern like you see when tv stations sign off for the night.
Of course it will still need quite a bit of refinement to make the grade.
Of course it will still need quite a bit of refinement to make the grade.
I came across one site that saw some 300 pages full of gadgets when getting them going on the 7000 builds back in February. And as it turns out it just happens to those that fall into different catagories at... where else? Windows Live Gallery
Meanwhile some good relaxing photos there. The next one here however is another "test subject" with the blue 7 logo this time.

When installing it you can leave the create desktop shortcut unchecked since the settings are controled by the hammer and yellow crossbar icon on the taskbar itself there for color or crystal, top, bottom, left, or right side of screen, behavoir for autohide, etc. there.
I wouldn't mind if two one for each side could be setup since running it along the bottom or top while providing more room gets in the way.
And the "7s"(editions that is) go marching on and on... haraaa...! Gee? Just trying to harmonize things a little bit here. "forwardddd... harrrrrch! 7s"
Need something for laptops I see. I may have just the thing. But just remember it was supposed to be testing 7 not testing for 7s!
Everything still seemed to check ok just the same.
Everything still seemed to check ok just the same.
I can't say that for the next one however when trying to be versatile for any laptop, netbook, desktop, etc. there. It came out like multiple 7 realities!
For the last entry there if you look more closely you couldn't use the snipping tool at the same time as seeing the preview in the lower right. That was having the new button right up against the preview itself.
That didn't stop the next one on the list however! This one's called virtual over virtual. Plus sometimes the paper clips opens up to a blank window.

Reflections?! Gee right when trying to do some multitasking on 7 something came while trying to add on another taskbar! Well it was supposed to be the "Showcase 7" entry but...
Well since I couldn't get the transparency here I kept looking into more flective ideas. That just happened to include the "Showcase of 7s" for another look.
Nice one I just made using the New 7 Logo.
That's simply from having the Start taskbar at the bottom of the screen covering that over! You'll notive once the taskbar is at the top there it is again. "mission control to launch control 7 is near ready for take off!"
Attachment 10709
Take another look at this picture with the Start taskbar at the top, (no watermark) as I said I removed the watermark... directions and download located at the following link:

Oooo gosh! I told them I wanted new walllpaper for 7 not ... I Robot Server!
All I know is when all these older versions are long gone there will still be one remaining standing tall in the sun light!
I just grabbed another look off the upgraded sig you provided there for another version.
Thanks for the Rep guys, glad you liked them.
Sometimes you just have to go with a darker background to really bring things out like the global wait for 7.
That wasn't the only one I was reworking lately. One had a large need to see a correction to really bring out the effect. Reminds you somewhat of an old Beach Boys tune "good... good... good... good vibrations"
On the hand I had to come up with one for the 32bit RC since I hadn't booted into that one for awhile.
You'll see that came out as well as a second used for a gaming toolbar on the next one here. This is based on a few earlier screens while in their "ruff" forms there to see a more contemporary desktop.
Not bad! Meanwhile... "The Dr. has arrived!" Apparently they have us around but still needed "The Dr." since some bugs are still being seen! !!!
It figures! Now that I have a new pair ready I can't seem to find the original? I added a new gadget on top of one of them. Speaking of more 7s again I had to improvise a bit for the second one!
On the two desktops seen there it's seen on the left side if you want a closer look to see how that works.
wow.
that looks awasome
that looks awasome
I can alway use another emblem if you can post that without any borders on it.
You meen this one?

I really don't like pins at all for so many reasons. They just make a huge mess out of my Taskbar. If I didn't have ObjectDock, I would have definitely set up a Quickl Lunch on my taskbar. W7 doesn't allow you to turn a folder into an edgebar like previous versions of Windows did. If it did, I might not have installed ObjectDock at all. The problem with ObjectDock is that it doesn't expand folders that are docked to it. Just like edgebars, you cannot place a folder onto it so that the folder expands when you hover over it. That's why I set up an 'Applications' toolbar in my Taskbar. As seen in the 2nd image, if I open the 'Applications' toolbar, the folders inside it expand beautifully. Even the W7 Start Menu doesn't do this. You have to navigate all of your Start Menu programs right inside of that Start Menu rectangle.

Yea, that really looks great!
It's still a little off center allowing for the clock gadget. But I can easily correct that for a separate imge here. You'll notice it now starts to look more like an emblem or even better a good gift wrapping!
I just centered that one a little more to see how that works.
I just centered that one a little more to see how that works.
I have a feeling this one will go a lot further at information overload!
Night Hawk, Where do I start looking??
You should see the revision of that as well as another I managed. Don't you get it? That one has "everything" coming at you at once kind of following along the lines of over extended multitasking!
Here's one i just put together :
There you go! Highway #7 I prfer to keep things basic at times as well including some 7 power factors or back in the '60s that would have been called "Flower Power of 7"!
heres mine, i have a few more icons and stuff now but not a huge change
I wouldn't mind having the program for mirroring things here. Instead I moved the RocketDock bar to the opposite side to see how that works out rather then constantly checking off the auto hide option when it tends to get in the way at times. Plus besides the ole rustic look I wanted another try with the 7 logo again.
You're welcome!
But I have to correct one thing regarding which file sees the shortcut created. That's the Vista and XP mode "vmc" virtual machine files that you right click on and select the create shortcut option for. Once dragged onto the desktop you simply right click again to rename in order to shorten the length down a bit.
The vhd simply ends up seeing the search web for program or browse to locate exe popup.
The blue one looks real good there. Mind if I borrow that for the new Vista gadget I have inplace?
Ahhhh... geee...? You know I just couldn't pass that on up for a look at "7 on Vista"! "Vista? "

First you need to start off with the more basic things however!
Here's mine :
Just made this wallpaper (and adapted it as a siggy too)... Not sure if its too hazy yet though, but I wanted a misty feel to it.
Even "Track 7" playing at the same time!
I figured you would beat me to the punch line here with one of them! But I simply had to improvise a little bit more since I always seem to have a busy desktop to begin with.
We have some more
This may start making your brain explode wonder what one to use..
hope ya liking them
This may start making your brain explode wonder what one to use..

Of course! Around here nothing gets ignored! I added an emerging 7 to one you had there.
Well I just couldn't help noticing that it's like cracking open a large piece of coal and finding a large gem inside! (7 of course!) I also grabbed another pair from the silver and gold ones you provided on the other for a look. Those came out like olympic champs being gold and silver!
Meanwhile one correction seems to have been just what was needed for the latest seen earlier!
And as we gaze out upon "Mount 7"... the resolution would need to be a little higher for larger displays unfortunately to avoid the blurring seen.
can i have this in 1680x1050 please.....

Ok Airbot let's see if I get the paperclip to open this time for a look at the mod I made to yours there! There we go!
I can work with that a little more to see if I can get any further. But I think that gives you a good idea of how it should look if everything worked well the first time.
The problem is not so much the gap you see but not being completely rounded as you follow the curve being a bit oblong. If the emblem is squeezed too much to fill in the area it will suffer a lot however.

The alternative by the way is something a little different seeing a logo instead of any orb.
Well let's see now... hhmmm... it could use a little... ?

I love it
I never could get the 7 icon seen on the first sig there without the background or white square since paintNET is unable to cut around the edges. So I've been stuck using the grey logo for the time being until I can improvise like Airbot did with the sig he has there.
Keep it simple
That would have an interesting effect. You have the reflection effect of the "7" inserted added along with the normal reflection from the text.
That will work too! Too bad there wasn't a way to leave the text intact and insert a "7" behind the V in the original.

Now you're getting much closer! Too bad the "7" couldn't be extracted by itself to be inserted like that. The second one came out a little better since the V is a bit more visible.
It got kind of drowned somewhat on the first. But you got the correct approach working for you!

most of the stuff posted in the thread is definitely not my style, so i decided to pull out my grandmother's yarn and knit my own Windows 7 wallpaper
You've got some serious knitting skills there!!
The luminous green takes away from the lettering in that sense where multi layering is kiind of the idea where you read "seven" right up front while still seeing a reflective 7 behind that.
It's tough if the squares behind the seven text are already part of the base and not added on as a second layer. The concept would be the word seven is right up front introducing the "7" you get a hint of in the background! That would be a good one but may get involved.
I know it's kind of tough to find just the right 7 logo to make it work.
What do you think of this one? :P
To see how that one looks without the 7 out in front but intertwined a little have a look at the modified version.
Hey Night Hawk, could'nt help thinking about you when I saw this wallpaper. Maybe you can utilize it somewhere. Really stunning!!

I'm still trying to figure out what will work best for mine. First I have to clear up the image a bit on the temp seen now.
I couldn't help making an entirely different type of wallpaper that just happens to be the "Director's cut" of a 7 presentation. Besides it looks better on a full screen view then as a new avatar!
