Our fellow geek Kari part 1

Dinesh

Our fellow geek and my best pal Kari is in the hospital due to his disease. He was supposed to be discharged today but I don't think he's been discharged. Please pray for his speedy recovery.

The Howling Wolves

That disease can be nasty to have and to treat.
Prayers and thoughts go out to Kari from THW.

Thorsen

Sorry to hear. Thanks Dinesh for info. I hope Kari recovers quickly.

Thanks for the update Dinesh. Kari is really missed around here!

For those who would like to know more, Meniere's Disease affects the 'little tiny hairs' of the inner ear, the ones that give us the sense of balance. There is no cure and treatment targets the symptoms, which can be a loss of balance causing falls, and the sick feeling some experience on "Roller Coaster Rides" / Astronauts weightless in space (sometimes resulting in vomiting). A friend of mine told me a mild wind gust can push him over, and he can no longer drive his car for any distance safely. It is quite disabling.

The doctor says he is recovering well, but not as fast as he would like to. He also tried to get online today but it took a minute to type 2 words so its not the right time. He has sent best regards to all his SF friends.

"My prayers are with you Kari. Hope you recover quickly and get back to normal asap."
Thank you for the update Dinesh.

Please let Kari know that we all hope that he has a quick recovery and get's to feeling back to normal soon.

I remember during the world cup kari telling me he had placed a bet that Germany wouldn't make the quarter finals and that he was walking round germany with a go south africa t-shirt on.
I recall thinking at the time that it must have taken a lot of guts to walk in a German bookmakers and place a large bet on Germany to lose.
It is these guts that will help you pull through Kari so don't pressure yourself,
things will improve at the right time ,the healing process can be a slow one but that is what is necessary sometimes,
im glad you are at home in your comfort zone
youve been awarded a new badge!!

Hi friends, got an SMS from Kari last night informing me about his recovery. He is now partially able to move his limbs. He also typed yesterday's text SMS by himself, though it took him 30 mins to type it. The therapist are looking after him and the physical trainer is teaching him how to move his hands and legs. He said thanks to all of you for your prayers.

Kari, I wish you all the success in your speedy recovery.

P.S.: Dennis (The Howling Wolves) asked me to ask Kari if we can help him financially but Kari said he is economically good and also has an extensive insurance coverage. Thanks Dennis for your initiative.

Bare Foot Kid

Yes. Thanks for the update Dinesh. Good to hear that Kari is on the mend. Physio can do wonders in helping regain movement, other parts of the brain take over from the damaged bit.
Remarkable organ.
His posts are greatly missed. What he needs is a mobile typing finger and a straw for the single malt Get well soon my friend

Another good update Dinesh

Maybe Kari should try "Dragon Naturally Speaking" to make posts on SF

We sure miss his posts

Prayers for recovery, as always

Dwarf

Thanks for the update, Dinesh.
Kari is very much missed on the forums, and I too miss reading his posts, both the sensible ones when he is drunk and the nonsense ones when he is sober (or is that the other way round? ). Any how, keep doing what the doctors/physios and other health-care staff tell you to do. We're waiting for you to inject your unique take on life and get back to posting here ASAP (in your own time, don't rush things). Get well soon.

Dinesh you are our messenger and we thank you for keeping us updated with Kari.

Have a great week-end everyone.

I do wish a fellow member the best and hope that he recovers and can lead a happy and fulfilling life.

Not heard from him yet.

I too feel there ias a huge gap in the forums.... I have just read through all 20 pages of this thread, and realised how bad this must be.
But Kari is recovering, slow it may be, but steadily and reliably

We all miss you Kari, and we appreciate Dinesh for keeping us informed
