Our fellow geek Kari part 3

SIW2

Dinesh - thanks.

It's a relief to hear something from Kari.

Rehab will take a long while , I'm sure .

Looking forward to having you around regularly Kari.

Corrine

Thank you for the update, Dinesh. I am so looking forward to the day Kari returns. Until then, Dinesh, please send him my best wishes, virtual {{{HUGS}}} and a bucket-load of patience for both him and Angie.

A rose for Kari: @}-'-,-

Dom

It must feel awful Kari, not being able to communicate very well. I know the feeling myself, when I have hypoglycemia due to diabetes, I can hear and understand everybody but I cannot get a word out of my mouth. I felt almost as if everyone thought I was temporarily 'disabled'. My best thoughts and wishes to you, I hope this ends happily

whs

Thank you Dinish for the update. As awful as it sounds, there is at least hope that things may improve. It must be terrible to go thru an ordeal like that, especially at his relatively young age. I hope he will get better very soon and that my countrymen give him the best care available.

Lordbob75

Wow. Hang in there mate... We miss you.

~Lordbob

Joan Archer

Thank you so much for that update Dinesh, he may have had another setback but it sounds like our Kari is fighting his way back.

Pass on my best wishes to him and Angie when next you are in touch and like everyone here my wishes are for his full recovery no matter how long it takes.

Orbital Shark

Many thanks for the update Dinesh, here's still hoping for a full recovery Kari

mickey megabyte

so glad to hear that our friend Kari is getting better!

thanks Dinesh

johnwillyums

Thanks for that update Dinesh and as you say, it must have been a mighty task typing that lot.
Kari, I'll assume you'll read this at sometime. I can't begin to imagine the gamut of emotions from anger to grief that you must go through all day every day at the moment. Must be bloody hard.
So get better because you deserve it. We need to hang on to the good guys and you haven't had enough fun yet.

CarlTR6

Dinesh, thank you vey much for the update.

Kari, you and Angie are in our prayers daily. I am sorry to hear that you had a major set back; but I am delighted to hear that you are fighting to overcome it. It will take a while; but you will persevere. Looking forward to seeing you post again.

DocBrown

Thanks Dinesh for keeping us updated.

We will continue to pray for an improvement in Kari' health.

His presence here is missed.

ahriman

So glad there is an update on Kari's health. Thanks Dinesh!

I'm heartened to hear Kari is at home, disheartened to hear he has such a
fight ahead of him. Hope the recovery will be much easier and faster than
he states. But Kari is, I believe, a fighter. Wish we could do more than
offer verbal support.

spinifex

Thank you for the update Dinesh.

Best wishes to Kari and his better half and a speedy recovery.
Great to hear you are home in comfortable surroundings.

Jon

Phone Man

Thanks for the update Dinesh. I was hoping for better news. Kari, my prayers and thoughts are with you and your family. I have a neighbor who is about 40 yrs old and he had a bad stroke a year ago. Still has trouble with his left arm and leg. He also has trouble getting the words out correctly but is making progress. He can't work and comes over every day and wife and I visit on the patio. Every time he comes over I also wonder how you are doing. Keep up the good fight.

Jim

Dave76

It's great to hear news from Kari. Very good to hear you're making progress, Angie and you are in our thoughts daily.

We are all hoping to hear from you soon, when you're ready.

Thanks for the update Dinesh.

IownAmoneyPit

Hello Kari I do not know you personally but have read numerous posts by you since I was a noob here (sometimes I think I still am). In my childhood I had to overcome physical disabilities learning to walk, ride a bike, even my speech was delayed but improved using the same will & determination you seem to have.

I along with other members who so eloquently stated await the triumphant return of their Official SevenForums "Reformed Newb Hugger"

Best wishes for a full and speedy recovery.

A Guy

Kari, I can only imagine how hard it must be to be unable to express yourself and do the things your mind is capable of. The fact that your mind is so sharp is a great advantage. It means your mental faculties are still there. The short term memory loss, while discouraging, is totally normal for someone in your position.

To see your email, which must have take patience and fortitude to compose is evidence of your willpower, and is exactly the type of effort that proves you will persevere and make your recovery necessary.

We're all pulling for you Kari, we want you to enjoy the company of your family and friends and know we will be able to see you posting here again. I wish you all the will and strength of mind you will need to accomplish your goals.

On the selfish side, we miss you, and want you back. Take care, hang in there, the 7F "family" is all rooting for you.

Thank you Dinesh, please keep us up to date as much as possible.

A Guy

WindowsStar

Thank you Dinesh we really needed the update.

Kari, please have a speedy recovery, I know that many of us dearly miss you. You are in our thoughts daily!

Jonathan_King

Thanks for the update Dinesh.

Get well soon Kari!

richc46

We appreciate the updates. You are in our thoughts and hearts Kari. We all look forward to your return.

Kari

Long story short, Im back. Not as often as before, not so many hours as before, and definitely writing shorter posts as before.

After three strokes in less than 8 weeks, my life ATM is only therapy in every possible form, and getting bored at home. Left side of my body is still almost useless but getting better, verbal communication is difficult because although I can think clearly in all languages I have to use (Finnish immigrant here in Germany, German wife and half German half English social networks around me), I have strange difficulties to form words in other than my native Finnish. According to my neurologist, my brain is almost undamaged (which greatly amuses my dear Angie!), so theres light at the end of the tunnel.

Ive been very surprised and moved to notice the amount of support Ive gotten from fellow geeks here on the Seven Forums. Emails, text messages etc. Please forgive me if I have not answered, and accept this as a universal Thank you! I also hope you can forgive me if I do not remember something or somebody, it seems Ive some difficulties to remember near past. The longer back I go in my memories, the better I can remember; problem is the near past. Before feeling me ready to come back here, I have read the forums and my own posts without logging in, to get a picture where and when I left you guys. Ive also read through all my emails and text messages from the past months, to me help me in this remembering process.

Im happy to be back. Thanks for your support.

Kari

P.S. Funny! I had to click Forgotten your password link before posting this. I had absolutely not a clue about my password J

richc46

Really glad to see a post from you, again. Take it easy, and get better.

mickey megabyte

The Howling Wolves

Kari my friend,
You have been deeply missed but as blessed with having you back again.
I wouldn't worry about forgetting your password as I forget who I am and where I am quite frequently.
Just try to remember the important things such as being alive and with Angie and family at your side.

We all know the struggle you have gone through and are here as your online support team so take it slow and easy with your progress.
We love you Kari so take care and God Bless you.
Dennis and the 7 Forum Members.

Lordbob75

Damn! Welcome back Kari.

Kari,
Welcome back our friend,
While I may not be religious man,
I send this with the most sincerity,
God speed on a full recovery Kari.

Kari

Thanks guys

Have to find a new techforum to advice me with my new tech toys. Or does someone here know how to connect a laptop PSU directly to the battery of a Pride Jazzy 614, to make my Jazzy more like a mobile office?

I don't need to do that to make my Angie angry It's enough when I throw my statins and Dipyridamole away and ask some whisky...

But I really would like to install a laptop and a trackball to my Jazzy!

Thorsen

It is really nice to see you back and please take care. Funny enough I was thinking about you at breakfast time this morning, because I hadn't read any updates recently.

Thorsen

Welcome back Kari. I am glad to see you posting again. We are all happy to see you again.

We'll find anything you need to get you moving in high gear again. If anyone can do it, its the people on this forum.

Barman58

First thing I found, don't know if it will work on your chair though: Universal Wheelchair Laptop Mount / Desk

The Howling Wolves

Kari,

You have just made an average day into a great day

I clicked on the thread to get the latest news on your condition and found your actual words - absolutely wonderful news indeed

As for your Jazzy - if it has a standard 12v or 24V Battery, you should be able to get some suitable inverter unit to provide AC mains power for your laptop - then you just plug in as you would as normal

12v Power Inverter - Compare Prices, Reviews and Buy at NexTag - Price - Review

Keep working on the recovery my friend

The statins and Dipyridamole are what's going to keep you alive and Angie Happy.
The whiskey will impair your vision and eye/hand coordination for your trackball.
Next thing we hear is that you have run over someone in the PUB.

Fantastic to see you back. You have been greatly missed.

Dwarf

Nice to see you again Kari!
I am amazed and impressed by your strength of will, going through all this and still making your way back here to talk to us. If I had half of your determination, I might have gotten somewhere in life!

It's a pleasure to see you here, even if it has to be just a post here and there.

Lordbob75

Welcome back, Kari.

Just take things nice and steady.

Dave76

Kari,

If I were anywhere near you, I would come over and get you a trackball mouse installed into the armrest of that chair for you, and a little table for the laptop that you can fold up or down.

Of course, you could also just duct tape it in place on the arm rest!

I am going to have to take your man card now.

I find it difficult to believe that Brink hasn't written a tutorial on how to accomplish that!

Kari

Thanks again, geeks.

Doc, judging from your avatar you need to come back to the future. That's too far in the past!

Dwarf

Kari, as I'm sure you have already noticed, we're still all quackers crackers around here.

Phone Man

Kari,
Glad you are back. From your posts its seems you are in good spirits. Hang in there. I wish you the best.

Jim

Phone Man

I looked up the Jazzy and here is what I found.

Jazzy 614 - Specifications, Owner's Manual, Features & Benefits

From the owners manual it shows it has two 12v batteries but the charger puts out 24v so I assume the batteries are in series to give 24v. May be able to find an inverter with 24v input but may not be common. Also need to find a way to mount the laptop. Lets put our thinking caps on and see what we can come up with. Use of Duck Tape is optional but not preferred.

Jim

Thorsen

This FAQ is fun. Here is some awesome info on converters: Inverter FAQ - DonRowe.com - Frequently Asked Questions about Power Inverters

Baroness von Shush

Kari, having read your post I see that you have been through a horrendous time most recently, all I can say is that I wish you a very speedy recovery back to health.

Barman58

The 2x12V batteries in series to give 24V is the European standard for a lot of larger vehicles such as trucks and buses so the 24v Input invertor should not be too hard to find

Kari, so very pleased to see you posting here. You were truly missed, and I think you understand that we hold you in high regard (with our without duck tape!). Take care, and keep up the good work on your recovery.

Welcome back, Kari. I haven't had the pleasure until now, and I see what I have been missing out on

Kari

Welcome back Kari - made my day!

Arc

Thanks, Greg and others. Really nice to be back, although it seems I've forgotten so much I am not able to help others so much.

I use this opportunity to answer those mails and other messages asking me to come back to Messenger and / or Skype. I'm typing so slowly at the moment, and my speech is almost impossible to understand, that it's not possible. I'll "see" you guys online when it's possible.

Kari

CarlTR6

OK Kari .... we are absolutely happy that you are back among us Take rest , listen to the doctors , and here is a number of your fellow members to hug the noobs .... you hug life

Joan Archer

It is just so good to see you back. Post when you can and when you feel like. We understand.

Kari

I was in another thread when I first saw a post from you Kari and I can't tell you how happy it made me feel that you were back with us posting again.

It doesn't matter how often you post just knowing that you are on the road to recovery is enough for us all here so once again a very big hug and welcome back.

The Howling Wolves

Once again, thank you geeks!

I'm getting quite fast with trackball & on-screen keyboard, but am already keenly waiting when I can type normally. It's not so easy to spontaniously post some obnoxious and arrogant comments when you click letters one by one

Kari,
I was waiting for you to say "obnoxious and arrogant comments!"
Now I know I can have fun with you again.
So glad you didn't lose you sense of humor.

But Dennis, with you, in my current a bit disabled situation, I need some handicap. Let's say 2 to 1: We call it even when I only insult you once for every two of your insults

Deal?

Let the games begin...............I will start slow and be nice for awhile.
I know that sounds shocking but I am so damned glad to have you back so it will take me a while to brush up on being obnoxious and arrogant.

Kari,
I just noticed a recent post by you. Made my day!

Welcome back! And rest awhile ... we (well, some of us -- OK, me) need a head start before sparring with you verbally.
You are clearly in top form. Good to see.

I am so happy you are back! Makes my day to see posts from you when I am on line.
