What is your exact sound card or motherboard?
the sound car is the realtek built in from the motherboard
how will i know what is my motherboard
how will i know what is my motherboard
Is this a pre-built computer, such as a Dell, etc? Tell us the exact model number, not just the name on the front of the case. You'll probably find this on a sticker on the back or bottom of the case.
If you are comfortable opening the computer (assuming this is NOT a laptop), you should be able to find it stenciled on the motherboard itself.

DG41RQ Intel G41
Go here: http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Sear...p+Board+DG41RQ
Tell it which Operating System (I'm assuming Windows 7, since you're here, but make sure you get the 32-Bit/64-Bit part right), then go to drivers and look for your sound driver.

how bout my ES1370 SoundBlaster will it work in WIN7?
Creative is famous for pulling the plug on older hardware by not writing a new driver for it. I didn't see a Win 7 driver (doesn't mean there isn't one, somewhere), but you might get a Vista driver to work.
The link to Intel I posted earlier showed drivers updated as recently as last November. If it was me, I'd try that one first.

Are you getting any warning messages or error reports when you try it? If so, what are they? Have you tried running the installation file as Administrator?
no error messages and tried running admin

Have you tried running the Intel Driver Update Tool:
Intel Driver Update Utility
It should be able to detect the hardware, also can you post a snippet of the Device Manager, showing what items have the yellow exclamation points.
You should try updating your chipset. The above tool should detect that automatically for you.

Okay, then try drivers from here:
Realtek
This directly from the realtek website.
Select to download the first file:
"Vista, Windows7 Driver (32/64bits) Driver only (Executable file)"
EDIT:
It would also be good if you can run speccy:
http://www.piriform.com/speccy/download/standard
and fill out you systom information, or post a snippet here. This would let us know more about your computer hardware.

Have you tried these drivers?
Dumb question, but have you made sure the audio is enabled in the BIOS?
Already used that update thingy but still nothing :C ,oh and here is the snippet
Attachment 141828
Attachment 141828
Install the Realtek driver, if needed.
Wait, It has to be enables in the BIOS because it is showing up on Device Manager, if it was disabled then it wouldn't show.
Strait from the Intel website:
http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Deta...=3058&lang=eng
After looking up your mother board, this has to be the driver.
Did you try this driver already?

Not necessarily, the controller that is showing, I suspect is the HDMI controller from the video card. Normally when you have a card installed with HDMI, you'll see two Multimedia Audio Controllers, when the onboard audio is enabled in the BIOS. If the onboard audio is disabled, then you'll see just the HDMI controller. That's why he's not getting a Realtek audio device as being installed.

Sorry for the confusion!!
I don't know that it's common nowadays, but in the past I have seen many boards with disabled onboard audio still have it show up in device manager. Windows knows it's there - it just doesn't work.
I'm not saying that definitely is the problem, but it only takes 60 seconds to check...

Restart the computer and look for a message saying "press (some key, probably Del) to enter the BIOS (or enter setup)".
Once you're in there, use the up and down keys on your keyboard to move around until you find the place to Enable/Disable it. In the picture I've attached (yours will probably look at least a little bit different) it's the line marked "Onboard Audio Function".
For the time being, DON'T mess with anything else in there!

Will try dat now DD
I guess the others missed this one. Does your computer's motherboard have a setup CD?? Its the disc that says something like "motherboard setup".It should come when you bought your PC. When Windows 7 was installed, some of the drivers have to be installed again and to do that, you have to run the motherboard's setup CD because it most likely contains the driver specifically designed for the built-in sound adapter. So if you have a motherboard's setup CD, run it. But whether or not that will work with Windows 7 is a question but better than not getting a compatible driver at all.
I was trying to hunt down a good BIOS picture and hadn't seen the most recent replies.
That would work, but the only hitch would be that it might turn something else off that he needs. Not to mention that he wouldn't know what the settings were before in case he needed to change something back.
Your idea is fine. My main concern would be that for someone who doesn't seem quite at home in the BIOS to begin with it would be a real mess to try and sort out a dozen different changes that one little key press might make. That's why I warned him about not messing around with anything else while checking the audio.

It was still a good suggestion. If he has no luck finding the audio setting it would probably be the next logical step.

I agree
Intel Desktop Board DG41RQ — Product guides for DG41RQ
It claims that the audio system is composed of:
Intel ICH7
 Realtek ALC662 audio codec
OMG u r right i dun find audio settings
I have to make another post so this goes on noticed by the thread started whose looking for help. Read the quoted statement below:

If your BIOS screen looks like this picture, use the right arrow key to highlight "Advanced" and look around in there. (Ignore the part circled in red - that's the best picture I could find for your board and what's marked has nothing to do with what you're trying to find.)

Does that mean it works?
