I have a feeling AVAST! is causing your troubles.
It's been known to go a bit loopy on some machines with win 7.
You may remove it and use Microsoft Security Essentials for the time being.

Did both and I still get BSOD
The only thing I have left for you is to go to nvidia.com and update your chipset drivers. I don't really see anything jumping out at me here.
whats a chipset driver?
And how do I update that?
I'll need the exact model of your compaq to figure out what motherboard it uses.
Compaq Presario PC
SR5110NX
Original Windows Vista Home Basic - I upgraded to Windows 7 Home Premium

ugh problem with that they aren't supporting nforce 4 series boards for win 7 with drivers.
This is very likely the source of your problem though as it means windows is currently using outdated vista drivers just to make your system work.

So, take my graphics system out of my computer? ...I did disable it and I still got BSOD...but do i need to take it out?

nforce = nvidia motherboard chipset
geforce = graphics
...just for future reference.
Dean is correct though that software either needs to be updated or removed, it's way too old to have compatibility with win 7.
I'd leave that chipset driver alone - it may run fine with Win 7 as long as you are running x86 (32bit).
Windows wont automatically Update anymore..I don't know why, I already uninstalled Arcsoft, so idk why it is showing up again.
I also tried downloading the SP1 manually and it only gives me the "Find" or "Save" option and not a "Run" or "Open" ...I have always hated this computer ....
Should I take out my newly installed graphics card though?
If you would like to Teamview, that might be helpful.

The system is probably trying to boot into DVD. Go to your BIOS and make sure it is booting into HDD.

How do I do that?
When the Compaq Logo appears, press F10 immediately.
When you enter the BIOS - leave it there and let me know you have entered in.

Read the instructions in the BIOS, they may provide the instruction for you.
Try doing + and - (see if that works)
Try doing + and - (see if that works)
No instructions and no + & -
Press Enter on ST3120213AS and press the Up and down key - see if ST3120213AS moves.
It goes to another screen
And it shows IDE channeled 0 master
And access mode....neither of these change its position

When pressing + and - you must hold shift and then press. Try that and see if it works.

I only bought the windows 7 upgrade disc... I don't think it came with anything else
since you can do a complete install from a upgrade disc the startup repair feature should also be there.
Ok I will check it out thanks
You maybe looking at what hardware is installed on your computer - not changing the boot order. Look into more in your BIOS.
There should be something like Boot Order, Boot Sequence

Ok i used the disc...
EDIT: I took the disc out after i repaired the startup....then nothing would work on my desktop, internet wouldnt open, control panel or anything from start button wouldnt open...then i put in the disc and everything started popping up like normal, then I took out the disc and I am typing this right now :P
