Adobe Photoshop CS 4 part 1

Windows 7

Hello SevenForums members! I recently just started using Windows 7 Beta 1 and I like the experience with it so far.

I really need Adobe Photoshop CS 4 but unfortunately an error comes up in the Setup file that I downloaded from Adobe's server. This is because it's not compatible with Windows 7.

Edit: Nevermind it's working now! I just had to choose Windows Vista in compatibility mode for the setup to continue.

d0od

CS4 Master Collection installed perfectly fine for me in Windows7 without using compatibility mode.

zZanthraXx

Photoshop extended cs4 (downloaded from adobe) works flawless in windows 7 for me, too.

if you're having issues, try running it in a compatiblity mode for XP or Vista. (right click > properties > compatibility)

lazevski

I can second that CS4 works great for me on Win7. I have Adobe Photoshop Version: 11.0 running. BTW do you have OpenGL installed? CS4 uses some neweffects that require it.

computer

I have Windows 7 build 7000 and Adobe Product all WORK FINE. I have installed CS4 with 6-7 additional filters and ALL WORKS FINE.

GaChanner

Works fine for me as well maybe you have a bad download?

renthor

DX

I'm running x64 Windows 7.

I'm having problems installing too.

I had it installed once, but while cleaning some bloat unattentively, I accidentally uninstalled it. I know, I'm an idiot...

Now, everytime I try installing, I get this error message "Suite Shared Configuration CS4
Error:
Error 1603. Error 1310.Error writing to file: C:\Windows\winsxs\Manifests\x86_Microsoft.VC80.CRT_1fc8b3b9a1e18e3b_8.0.50727.762_x-ww_6b128700.manifest. Verify that you have access to that directory."

I've tried going into the directory and looking for said file, and it's not even there.

I tried running as an admin, I've tried compatability mode, and neither worked.

I'm starting to wonder if when I uninstalled, it possibly took said .manifest with it...

Does anyone know what to do? Could someone possibly check if they have said .manifest, and if so, copy it and upload it to someplace like **************? Would that work? I'm a noob to this... Sorry for stupid questions...

I'm sorry, I'm kinda desperate to get this thing reinstalled. ^-^;;;

thomas82

I've got mine installed fine, but almost every app seems to crash after using it for about 10 or 15 minutes. It's not memory related, I checked that first, it barely uses half of my available RAM. Any thoughts? It will always crash, I've never once been able to keep them open more than 15 minutes.

GaChanner

trouble starts if u (have to) install the application twice. this maifestfiles are system owned an as i see it u have to reconfigure them one by one. runing the installer in admin mode doesnt solve the problem.

Guest

So, how do I recreate said manifest file? DX

timz84

I am trying to install cs4 and I keep getting that windows installer error coming up, i tried changing the compatibility but same error. Can someone help me?

wierdo124

Hello timz84,

I believe the thread below can help you. It contains a fix to the installer problem.
Windows Installer - can't install ANY msi package

TYVM

start regedit
navigate to HKLM\Software\Microsoft\SQMClient\Windows\DisabledSessions
rename MachineThrottling to _MachineThrottling

Solved the issue for me.

kranika

i tried to install ps cs4but got this error:

any suggestions guys?

GaChanner

Not to necro, but I still can't reinstall it... Has anybody found a solution?

schale01

No Go for me. I had Adobe Premiere Pro installed and then uninstalled it. When I try to install it now I get this nasty error:

Suite Shared Configuration CS4
Error:
Error 1603. Error 1310.Error writing to file: C:\Windows\winsxs\Manifests\x86_Microsoft.VC80.CRT_1fc8b3b9a1e18e3b_8.0.50727.762_x-ww_6b128700.manifest. Verify that you have access to that directory.

I tried the suggested and navigated to HKLM\Software\Microsoft\SQMClient\Windows\DisabledSessions

There was no MachineThrottling to rename to _MachineThrottling

So I treid deleting the key as suggested in post
Windows Installer - can't install ANY msi package

Still nothing. Any other ideas?

edwardtilbury

No go for me either, I tried all of the above as well, I'm in the same boat!

edwardtilbury

Just tried cc cleaner on my registry, it found and "fixed" 164 errors, but still doesn't install...

"Adobe Photoshop CS4 (64 Bit)

Saltgrass

I just downloaded and installed the 32 bit version. It was a recent download, so maybe they changed the installer to account for folks using W7.

The installer hesitated with a message about needing WinXP or later, but gave me an option to continue anyway. It then installed without problems.

The install started from a desktop folder (Adobe CS4) which is installed by the downloaded .exe file. Message says use the Setup.exe in the folder to install, which I ran as administrator.

One note, the next day when I booted up, I got a boot error message which I had not seen up until this time. Whether it was related to CS4 or not, I don't know.

I would assume everyone into CS4 knows they are running a beta for it to fix some issues and are asking for volunteers.

kirk

Hi guys,

I errored out while installing CS4, and in attempts to uninstall it and reinstall it I ran into the error you guys have posted:

Error 1603. Error 1310.Error writing to file: C:\Windows\winsxs\Manifests\x86_Microsoft.VC80.CRT_1fc8b3b9a1e18e3b_8.0.50727.762_x-ww_6b128700.manifest. Verify that you have access to that directory."

To resolve the problem I downloaded the manifest files and folders (now attached to this post) and put them into the C:\Windows\winsxs\ directory. You need to take ownership of the directory and give the Administrator full access. You do that by viewing the properties of winsxs, then go to the Security tab and click Advanced.

Hope this helps, sheesh that was annoying.

Mark

Hi Kirk and welcome to the forums,

Thank you for sharing this useful information.

Wow that seemed to do the trick! I am back up and running Adobe Premiere Pro. Thanks a bunch Kirk.

Just a general question, but has anyone looked at the .pdf file which comes with CS4 concerning installation issues? It talks about installing and running the first time as admin, and not changing the default directory for the x64 version. Plus some other things like uninstalling and Deactivating.

superfastkyle

I was having these issues too. I couldn't get my blackberry software installed or any msi. I tried every other fix and your zip file was the only one who worked. Although I had to take ownership and then make myself have full rights. I still got like 1000 "access is denied" so you have been warned but when I still was able to copy the files. This is a god awful bug I hope it gets reported by everyone. It appears if one net based installer screw ups well you might not be able to install another one

superfastkyle

trying to get gladinet running got it installed with your zip file but now get "sidebyside" error. So had to google and found out more than I needed to know about how to debug it

anyways it appears I'm also missing this file
C:\Windows\assembly\GAC_32\Microsoft.VC80.CRT.mui\8.0.50727.3521_en_1fc8b3b9a1e18e3b\Microsoft.VC80. CRT.mui.DLL.

Can you help me out with this one as welll?

JeeperDon

There is a popular problem when you install Acrobat from CS4 on a W7x64 sys, that you don't get the usual Adobe PDF print driver auto installed. You have to install the printer manually and I found these instructions to do so on the Acrobat Community forum (which worked fine for me on two systems):

Click your Start Button and select Control Panel
Select Devices and Printers
Select Add a printer
Select Add a local printer
Check Use an existing port and select Documents\*.pdf (Adobe PDF) from the drop down. Click Next
Click the Have Disk button
Click the Browse button
Navigate to C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Acrobat 9.0\Acrobat\Xtras\AdobePDF
Select AdobePDF.inf from the list, then click the OK button
You will see many Adobe PDF Converters in the list, however count six down from the top and click Next
Name your printer, in my case I named mine Adobe PDF
Follow the rest of the prompts

You are a lifesaver. It worked like a champ. I did get a blue screen on windows restart and had to do a repair but CS4 installed perfectly afterwards.
Thanks again,

Hi!

My problem, running Photoshops CS4 is dissappearing a setup window("Adobe Photoshop CS4 Install - Progress") at initializing process and i can not continue installation.

Same problem is when i tried to install a CS3 version - the window crushed after files unpacked!

registering jscript.dll was unhelpfull also like as changing compability modes and "run as Administrator" - was unhelpfull too.

-
thank you!

Saltgrass

Do you have a downloaded copy or a DVD/CD?

Have you seen this file?
Photoshop CS4 Read Me.pdf

It discusses several problem areas. If you downloaded, it should be on a Adobe CS4 folder on your desktop, it should also be available on the CD.

tenorsax08

For the past three or four days, I have been trying to install Photoshop, InDesign, and Illustrator (from the CS4 collection), but I keep getting the 1603 error. I have searched everywhere for a solution to this problem; from the Adobe website, to Microsoft, to InstallShield, and finally to many random tech forums, such as this one I stumbled upon.

Here is some of the things I have done so far:
- Used both the CS3 and CS4 cleaning utilities
- Cleaned and fixed my registry with TuneUp Utilities 2009
- Used the Windows disk check utility to run a full scan on my hard drive
- Manually updated my Windows Installer version
- Unlocked different files on my hard drive (as the Adobe forums suggested)
- Unlocked different registry keys (from Adobe)
- Booted in safe mode and tried installing
- Used MSConfig to turn off all non-Microsoft services (including my antivirus and firewall) and booted in that mode to install
- Manually removed all Adobe keys from the registry (after a backup, of course)
- Created a new admin account to install from
- Double, triple, and quadtruple checked my privileges for my admin and SYSTEM accounts
- Tried to install using a "simplified mode" (which is copying all files to the desktop to install from)

Some additional background information...I have no Google programs installed and I am using the (only) admin account on my computer (I deleted the other account I created). I am using Vista Home Premium and everything is completely up-to-date, with no viruses, spyware, or malware. I had Photoshop CS3 awhile back and later upgraded to CS4. Last week, I uninstalled CS4 to upgrade to the CS4 Extended version, plus Illustrator and InDesign. However, no CS4 program will install, because they each report back with the 1603 error.

I used Adobe's Support Advisor program to decipher the error message. It said something about the privileges of a certain key in the registry and some files on my hard drive, which I went in manually and changed these privileges. Here is the topic that the Support Advisor sent me to:

http://www.adobe.com/go/kb403891

I followed everything they suggested, and I think all of that worked. Except...the part of changing the privileges in the registry. I did change it but it gave me an error that said, "Registry editor could not set security in the key currently selected, or some of its subkeys."

I'm not sure if it is supposed to have that message, but I am guessing not. By process of elimination (and mostly out of hope), I think this is probably the problem (...I hope).

Any suggestions? Does anybody understand what this means? Is there ANYTHING I can do?!

In an Adobe support forum that described what to do in the case of a 1603 error, the last step said to install on a different machine. Hm. Does anybody else see a problem with that? Mainly because we pour thousands of dollars into this company that has terrible customer support, just to have them tell us that they don't know what else to do? Um. Hello?

JeeperDon

My opinion? Considering everything you've done, including using registry tools likely not certified for W7, I would take it as an indication that the W7 install got messed up somewhere along the line. I would reinstall W7.

smooth1212

I just installed cs4 in win 7 (64bit). The open gl stuff is not working. Everything else in CS4 works great. I'm running a nvidia 9600 GT video card and my preferences are set up correctly. Any suggestions? Also I'm sure I understand what running in "Compatibility mode" means. Can someone explain?

bluezr1

It worked, I tried installing pro three times until I found your post. Two thumbs up, if I had three thumbs then I would put up three. Thanks

I did a clean install on a Q9300/8gig ram 64 bit NVIDIA GEFORCE 9800 GTX. I installed PS CS4 and not Open GL either. Installed the Newest Nvidia Drivers of the 9 series and all is fine.

hi guys i try install adobe photoshop but i have this problem:

323starz

Do Not! listen to any of the posts here CS4 DOES NOT WORK IN WINDOWS7! I am an instructor at a Graphic Design School and we have tried with several versions of the Adobe Creative Suites and various computers with the students. THERE IS NO FONTS FOLDER WHEN INSTALLING ANY OF THE CS4 SUITES. You will not be able to add fonts to your collection which is great for once a year warriors but not for a professional. C/programfiles/commonfiles/adobe is where the fonts file is located in vista and xp but the fonts folder DOES NOT! show up in Windows7. Also if you have a high end graphics card like the 4000 series from ATI Gamer OSD the "in game overclocking feature" does not install as well on a personal note.
P.S. despite support for AMD Overdrive being advertised through AMD it also does not work in Win7.
We have tested this extensively and the results were the same in a futile attempt to rid ourselves of vista.
The tested OS is the current Windows7 RC. The entire class ranted and raved about it and I changed several teaching methods to accompany this request. DO NOT! send me a bunch of garbage stating it works. If 34 students in a motley assortment of install methods and PCs cant get it to work chances are theyre right and your wrong stop misleading people with this win7 crap. If all you need to do is crop images for myspace it works fine but for a Graphic Designer its grabage from the ground up possible like your storys here.
There is no right click on the exe when you approach the install thats another myth as well. Oh there is a right click and compatablility mode but not for Adobe CS4 products from the disc.

Guest

what are you on about? i've been using photoshop cs4 in widows 7 almost every day for the last 6 months, and have not encountered a single problem. opengl drawing works fine on my 9500 gt. i just install it and it runs...

Charles Kane

Sorry 323Starz - but your post is absurd. I have installed PS CS4, Fireworks CS4, DW CS4 , Latest Acrobat and none of the things you complain about are true (for me - obviously).

The vast majority of problems reported here relate to re-installation after a good install - clearly that is a problem - but seems to have a good workaround.

The OpenGL problem might be something that Adobe needs to look at - but again, OpenGL works for me (and lots of others).

I have no problems with the Fonts issue you report and as I have not seen anyone else complain of this it just may be that your problem with this is unique or rare.

As for all your absolutes and capitalization and claims of "misleading" and "crap" - cool it. No software is perfect on every set-up despite our desire and hope that it should be. No-one here has been doing any misleading - we are trying to report and help based on our experiences.

Maybe you started with a bad attitude (sure sounds like it) and a bad disk.

323starz

A. I never mentioned that Open GL did not work
ATI OSD is what I mentioned pertaining to Win 7 itself

B. None of the things I complain about are true ha... well i have pictures of the "massive" diffence in the way win 7 uploads the files as opposed to vista view the pics please. with that bieng said who knows to what extent that win 7 has butcherd Adobe files no professional will want to install on win 7 and go through some "unknown" venture awaiting to find out what else is missing in the workplace

C. This was not a re-install issue nor was that ever mentioned in the post which seems to be a weak attempt to stray from the issue at hand well the photos can attest to that now.

D. Conclusion : obviously someone here trying to defend a "defective product"

E. The one who stated hes been using the win7 os for 6 months is even worse because you would have to be using the beta which has expired do yourself a favor and step up to the RC tard

F. "I installed it and it just runs" is totally inadequate for a professional who uses "all" of the features.

G. I really didnt have a bad attitude but I knew what was going to happen by posting here and the results are exactly the way I thought they would be "inadequate" "unprofessional" and "total lack of proof" this is a great os if youd like to just doodle around and in that case you could save some money and get gimp but dont get any version other than 2.0.4 because its unstable in Vista

Now if someone here works on the Win7 project they will readily see that Win7 has butcherd the Adobe install to unknown proportions and maybe that will help you to fix it but to say I was way off track is "absurd"

NO FONT FOLDER AND WHO KNOWS WHAT ELSE WILL BE MISSING FROM A $1,000.00 PROGRAM ! DO NOT MOVE OVER TO WIN7 IF YOU RELY ON ALL OF THE FEATURES IN THE CS4 CS3 CS2 SUITES "WIN7 IS INCOMPATIBLE

THE PHOTOS ARE OF WIN7 AND VIS IN THE SAME PLACE C/PROGRAMFILES/COMMONFILES/ADOBE
To give Win7 a thumbs up "amazingly the pref file is still in the same place"
The fonts file in the photo was added by me ok as an attempt to fix the problem but there is way too much out of wack here

Charles Kane

323starz:
In my install the fonts folder is exactly where you say it should be (see attachment). Perhaps if you wish to use this facility you could simply create a font folder there. I'm sure you know how.

However simply installing a font in Windows (manually, thru Control panel or 3rd party program) will make it available to CS4. (see 2nd attachment)

Adobe has good user forums where your issues may already be addressed.

Hope you can resolve your Photoshop issues.

your rudeness and name-calling is really not necessary. you have come into a community, shouting at people from the very beginning about things which are blatantly false. i don't know what you're trying to accomplish here, but i can assure you this is not the best way to go about it.

i've been running photoshop since 7000, and am now using 7229. as i said, i have had no problems with it. all system fonts show up fine, so i'm not sure what you're ranting about there.

exactly what sort of problems are you having? perhaps if you settle down and try to explain yourself, some of the fine people here will be willing/able to help you sort them out.

PedrooNL

Well maybe thats another issue that the Win7 team can fix instead of loading all of the fonts into Win7 and bogging down Office just let Adobe install its own fonts folder and take the load off of Office and its startup time. I have a countless amount of fonts and just by putting about 60 -70 of them in the generic Win7 folder it bogged Office to a very noticeable extent. I couldnt imagine the lag from a full fledged professional putting all of thier fonts into the Win7 fonts folder and expect to get some decent load time out of Office.
Well the good news is that just installing a fonts folder into c/programfiles/commonfiles/adobe isolates a massive font collection to adobe only. I wonder how extensive this damage is throughout the entire CS4 suite with Dreamweaver, Indesign, Illustrator and all. I dont see why they cant just let it install like it does in Vista. Even if you do install it with compatibility mode that so many rant about which cannot be done you then have the trailing "unguided" second disc which personally I think is where the problem exists. The only time I saw a wisp of compatibility mode is when I looked at Adobes site at the 10.99 trial version that just may be a download with an accessible exe file. What were they thinking to do all this compatiblity stuff for the practical user. I thought it was supposed to be better than Linux not more like it and in this instance even worse.

What in the world are "all" of those files doing in the Adobe folder and why such a dramatic difference between the install there and vista?

JeeperDon

Let me add something to the discussion here.

I tried CS4 Master Collection on different W7 builds (both x32 and x64).

Now I'm on 7229 x64.

Everything from CS4 MC worked well on all builds, except for one thing, that didn't work on all builds:

When in Encore you want to burn a BluRay project the whole system freezes and does not come to life anymore.

Can others confirm this behaviour? Any hints?

(I installed all the latest updates on system, drivers and CS4)

After2Designs

Moderators: Thank you for getting rid of only really annoying CS4/Win7 problem.

Hey renthor,
I remember a similar problem when i was using Adobe Photoshop CS3. Unbelievably, it seemed that Microsoft Intellipoint had a problem with Photoshop. After I uninstalled Microsoft Intellipoint, Photoshop ran just as it should without the crashes. I'm not sure if this is related with CS4, but the similarities are there. Good luck and hope I'm not too late!

Hi,
I just upgraded to Windows 7 this weekend. I thought everything was great until I went into my photoshop CS4 last night and I try to use a brush and when I increase the size, it breaks apart (looks like an X almost) and then if I keep going bigger, it will turn into the circle again, but then if I make it smaller, it will turn into a horizontal line of 4 ovals!

It NEVER did that in Vista. It was working perfectly before I installed Windows 7.

I have an Intel g45/g43 chipset (is that the graphics card?) and all drivers up to date.
I did all updates for CS4 and it didn't help.

What else can I do? I hope someone can help me!!

Hello. I have Photoshop 7 and just upgraded my system to Windows 7. PS7 worked fine with Vista but does not work properly with W7. I do have CS4 but really dont care for it so I wanted to go back to PS7. On both of the programs, I notice that instead of an arrow when I have my curser in the image, I get an image that I've never seen. I can't even begin to describe what it is, but it is not the standard arrow cursor.

With PS7 in Win 7, I am able to open an image and work with it, again with the indescribable type of cursor, not the arrow cursor I've seen, but the image will not "maximize" nor "minimize" nor "close". I must do control+W to close the image, and sometimes when I click the minimize, maximize or close button, it will activate the toolbar. Also, I am unable to move the image around on the photoshop desktop, by clicking and dragging the image around.

I'm at a loss

Thanks

Well, I did some "unimportant" updates from Windows and it seems to be working now. I also put it in compatibility mode, but then I took it off and it is still working, so maybe that means it was the updates. Who knows... I was doing a bunch of things. I didn't know about compatibility mode, though, so if anyone else is as dumb as I am, just wanted to point out that you can right click on photoshop in your programs folder, and choose preferences and go to 'compatibility' and put it back to Vista. Worth a try anyway....

Hello all. I have one problem with Adobe Photoshop CS4 Extended. I saw tutorial for changing start button orb, so I installed photoshop, and it starts without problems. But when I tried to create new image(new orb for start button) instead of getting new image with black background I got this http://i45.tinypic.com/37zx2.jpg. Even when i try to create bigger image there is similar problem - http://i48.tinypic.com/qyzeye.jpg. Don't get confused about changed start button, I used explorer.exe provided by sergiogarcia9. I have tried to run it in compatibility mode for XP, Vista, also tried to run it as administrator, it's same... Anyone knows solution for this problem?

Thanks in advance,
Elmir

Hmm thats a tough one... You should try to reinstall, and see if that solves the problem

LeonWolf

I have tried that to, it's still same... When I installed it and saw that, first thing I have done is reinstalling, after that I tried compatibility modes, tried to run it as administrator, nothing worked... I think I'll have to find my Adobe Photoshop CS2 to try with it... but it will be pain in the *** getting used to it's interface lol

Where is your Adobe installer from? Does it come directly from Adobe?

LeonWolf

Yes. It's trial version from Adobe.

Hmm, now that is weird :S Maybe you should try to redownload, but i cant promise that will help with the problem

LeonWolf

I know that installer is working becouse I have used it on Windows XP more than once without any problems. I have just remembered that I haven't tried to reextract the whole installer... Going to try that and let you know if that solved the problem

EDIT: Still the same problem

I'm not a total idiot nor am i a computer whiz, if anybody could give me a step by step guide as to what I need to do to install it on my pc I'd be eternally grateful.

Thanks in anticipation.

I have had this exact same problem? did you manage to find a fix for it? i have tried using both the 64bit and the 32bit installs, still getting the same problem of the machine freezing up. Very frustrating

I had no problems installing photoshop CS4 on Windows 7, but does anyone else get brush lag while they are using it, even with OpenGL switched off?

greetings,
in response to compatability of windows 7, adobe themselves specifically states their creative suite 4 design it is not compatable with 64 bit operating system. while they do say you can run these great programs on windows 7 they specify it was tested on windows 7 ultimate. unfortunately adobe only tested their product on ultimate, ultimate allows you to choose to operate on 32bit or 64bit if you have an intel p 8700 processor or better. so adobe never says it is compatabile it says read on, when you read on you find this info. to confirm this windows 7 compatability site specifically says when you ask regarding photoshop, illlustrator, dreamweaver, they are currently only 32bit compatable. sorry for the bad news. perhaps some of you are figuring out ways of making it operate, however I and others make a living doing graphic design work, building websites, etc. software either loads or it doesn't, i make money doing design work, not attempting to work out glitches in software for behemoth software companies, it needs to be bullet proof or I can't meet deadlines. if someone out their is loading these software programs without hitches i would love to know about it. but currently all info from all companies involved says: NO GO!

I don't have CS4, I have CS. All the posts I'm seeing are for 3 or 4. Can anyone tell me if there are compatibility issues with Photoshop CS? In other words, do I need to install in compatibility mode, or can I just install?

Thanks!

Bunzi

I installed CS on Windows 7 64-bit, and it seemed to work fine until I tried to create a .ico graphic (which wasn't even listed as a possibility in the "save as..." options), and now I have a very unstable program. I uninstalled it and reinstalled it, but it's still balking at doing a simple paint brush. I'm afraid I need to upgrade to CS4.

Hi,

I installed Adobe CS4 and last week I disinstalled Adobe...now I can't install it again.
I tried to delete information in the registry and tried adobe cs4 registry cleaner, but it did not work. Can anybody tell me why this doesn't work, is it because of Windows 7
(32 and 64 bit)

Thanx.

Hello, Friends,
I seem to have an unusual challenge.
I am using Window 7.
When I attempt to install CS4, I only am given the option to do it in French.
I wish to do it in English.
After I install it in French,
I then attempt to reinstall it, whereupon it allows me to select English, but then disallows my serial number.
When it is installed in French, it disables my Internet Explorer.
When I uninstall it, my Internet Explorer works again.
If I could install it in English to begin, I think all could be well.
But that option is grayed out.
Suggestions?
Thanks.

WayneIrwin

I solved my own problem.
By adding the patch mentioned in the earlier posts re the Manifest folder etc. added to the Windows Folder, I was able to load in English.
However, the serial number could not be used.
In the pdf file that came with the program, I read that each serial number is not only program specific, but also language specific.
Consequently I phoned the Adobe help line, and received prompt and courteus assistance. Adobe is replacing the product (which turned out to be a French Canadian Serial number) with an English one.

I seem to be getting a lot of brush lag with both Photoshop CS4 and CS5. My graphics card is an ATI Radeon HD 4350 (512mb) - anyone know if there are any known issues with this type of card? Thanks.

Hello all, don't know if anybody can help me with this one, but it's driving me absolutely nuts.
I am trying to install the full Adobe Creative Suite CS4 on Windows 7, but I keep getting the following message:
"The version of this file is not compatible with the version of Windows you're running. Check your computer's system information to see whether you need an x86 (32-bit) or x64 (64-bit) version of the program, and then contact the software publisher"
I am trying to install this on a brand-new computer, which has 4gig ram etc, and meets all specs required.
I installed this perfectly on another computer which runs Windows Vista Ultimate, and also on a computer running XP, although both are using 32-bit versions of Windows, however Adobe recommends running this program on a 64-bit version (which my version of Windows 7 is running).
At this stage I am getting ready to throw the whole lot out.
Any ideas on this one????

Hi, i've read through all the posts and this seems to be a new problem.

I bought CD/DVD version of PS CS4 and went to install it, installed fine, used it once, then i got the "Sorry to interrupt you message" and it says about the serial number not matching up or something. Then the next start up says "System set up" and asks me if i want to use the 30-day trial or enter a serial number, i then re-enter the number, and the dreaded red cross comes up next to it. Dud/illeagal copy you may think, but it isn't, i installed it on a Vista Laptop and that worked fine, installed it on my slow old PC (which, as with all the computers has internet connection), and it worked, and still does to this very day. One of my mates thought it was some form of registry block that had come on it or something, so he re-formatted my hard drive, and it worked, i ran the program a few times that evening (not connected to the internet), then ran it the following morning (again whilst NOT connected to the internet) and it worked again. However, when i got back to my house, i went to run PS (now connected to the internet) and it didn't work, back to what it said before with the same old boring serial number problem. I even did a system restore back to the date when it was working, turned off wireless, disabled the 60 windows updates and it still didn't work! It's quite annoying as Illustrator works fine.

Sorry for the length of the post, it's just i've done quite a few things (even found the file that brings up the error message and deleted it, but that just brought up an error message.)

I hope that someone can help me! (Error pic attached)

Thanks

I really need Adobe Photoshop CS 4 but unfortunately an error comes up in the Setup file that I downloaded from Adobe's server. This is because it's not compatible with Windows 7.

Edit: Nevermind it's working now! I just had to choose Windows Vista in compatibility mode for the setup to continue.
Try Photoshop CS5 64 Bit - Just Great !!!! (Needs Lots of Ram)
