Today [8] part 4

Arc

Today it was my paper presentation in the Orientation Programme ... it went enough good than that I thought. Everybody accepted and appreciated my speech and presentation highly . Even the evaluator also congratulated me for a good seminar session .

When the question - answer session was ended, I felt relieved a lot 5 more days to go .

xxxdannyxxx

Well done Archie glad to hear it went well

Joan Archer

Yesterday I was at operation at hospital, and today I was again in hospital. The bend is now out from my eye,and I'm good. The doctor has also said that it's great, and now I should go with the therapy...

Today I have been told that I can do coursework about my Work experience in IT so that is good since the course would have been on researching about IT systems used in like super markets which can get a tad boring

Good to hear, glad it is working out. A Guy

The Howling Wolves

Good to hear that StalkeR and A Guy's surgery went as planned.
I could have used another set of eye's yesterday when lining up a 3 foot put. Downhill lie with a right to left break.
Left myself with an uphill lie with a left to right break.

Today it's time to dismount my SSD as it's shows lots of errors. Maybe it's just the end of it's time. Eitherway, now I'm installing Windows 7 on my HDD. We'll see how that'd go. Wish me luck guys.

I have a tooth for extraction. I hope that it will be "pain-free".

I hate the dentist, fingers crossed for you mate

StalkeR

I was there, but only for a short. I should go next week again.

JaidynM

Been sick for the past few days which is why I've been unable to post much. I have either a bad case of gastro or food poisoning. I've had a high temperature and very painful stomach aches constantly since about Thursday morning. The results of the test come on Monday, hopefully it's nothing too serious.

Lower right quad stomach pain?
If blood test come back with high white count could be appendicitis.
Been there and done that...
Take care and hopefully it was just some bad food.

Not as of yet. Came home from work one night, all was fine....put it to sleep, and then the next morning I got a repeating pop-up
Quote:
Nvidia Windows Kernel Mode Driver Version 191.07 has stopped responding and has recovered
and after about the third time the display goes blank and I can't do anything. I've tried rolling back the driver, and updating to the newest driver, but even in safe mode the screen is all funky. I'm wondering at this point if the old 8600GT is dying on me or not.

Not until just now. I was actually kind of to have my streak of trouble-free computing end....and to have to admit I haven't run Acronis in a while either. (although my essential data is backed up)

I also had a cold and felt like poo for a couple days, and I didn't want to mess with the ailing computer until I had a clear head.

And when I saw posts about surgeries and medical conditions much more serious than my silly cold, I wasn't about to come on here and whine about my sneezing and runny nose either.

Hi Randy,

Have you tried installing a new driver?
GEFORCE 280.26 DRIVER

Navigated from NVIDIA Driver Downloads

Uninstall the old driver first, then install the new one.

If that doesn't help, then re-seat the graphics card. Clean if needed, check the fan.

Check with another graphics card if you have or can borrow one.

Hi Dave,
I'm pretty sure that is the driver I got, and I did get it from Nvidia's page, but I did not uninstall the old one first. I'll give it a shot tomorrow.....thanks for your suggestions!

That's a bad thing I hate earthquakes !!

StalkeR

Yes,we don't have earthquakes here.. In my 20 years I can't remember that we have some stornger,I remember only 2-3 but they was weak.

A Guy

We get them semi regular here. Usually like to sit still to get the whole effect. In my 50+ years, only the Loma Prieta quake (6.9) made me think about running outside (did). A Guy

Status report.....
OK, got the new driver installed just fine, and it made no difference. Pulled the case out, and the card is securely in place , and the fan is spinning freely. I've never removed a graphics card, and this is is securely enough in position that I did not try to remove it.

So, it looks like I will be without it for a while....in a week or so my father will be visiting my aunt and uncle, and bringing my sister's computer to my uncle, and now it appears he'll be bringing my computer too. I don't know if he'd be able to get both done in the couple of days that my dad will be there, so I guess this little computer will be my primary unit for a while.
Good thing I have it though....or I'd be using the ancient XP dinosaur that makes this netbook look awesome.

Thanks Dennis, Randy and Bill. Feeling a bit better now, I should be up and about tomorrow. And it doesn't look like anything to do with my appendix but I can't be sure. Test results come tomorrow so hopefully that can shed some light.

Sometimes a good cleaning will help.

There was some dust, but not as much as I thought there might have been. If I have some free time this week, I'll bring the tower downstairs where I have more room to look at it and potentially clean it better, but at this point I've kind of resigned myself to the inevitability of sending it out.

Shadowjk

Today, I was rather puzzled to discover 16 mayflies sitting on the ceiling and wall.

I vacuum-cleaned all of them.

StalkeR

Today wasn't a good day Got a detention for saying Pardon and someone took the mick out of me being Autistic I hope tomorrow is better

Today I have installed my graphic card again in pc and do a clean install of Windows 7.

For saying pardon? Cruel teacher...

And whoever took the mickey out of you for being Autistic is an idiot. Don't listen to them. I heard some guy being racist to a younger kid and I went crazy. I actually hit him hard in the stomach and winded him. I might have gone a bit over the top, but hey, he probably deserved it. I think.

Hehe, same thing here, Thorsen!

I now have a week in my job and it's been awesome, i've met some really nice people, they like to joke around but they're serious when it comes the job..

I'm now developing a Market Research for the sales manager who wants to see the price fluctuations on the market, basing the data on our competidors' prices and weekly sold quantities..

Really fun job to do my thing.

Dave76

Today cleaning up after the pass of typhoon Nesat, couple of trees down at my place but no major damage.
Power is back after a 18 hour outage.
Still having strong wind and lots of rain.

Couple of pictures of the surrounding area.

Hello ladies and gentlemen.

I can sure say that I miss all of you a lot.

So what's going on these days, well, I just purchased the pre-buy of Star Wars: The Old Republic- which is the first fully voice acted MMORPG, quite awesome. In the near future I'll get a new build of my computer, a quite good one.

What's up with you guys?

Good News

Received a letter in the mail this morning regarding a job interview I attended last week offering me the head chefs job at a Gastro pub not to far from where I live. What's extra special is it's an increase in salary from the job I was made redundant from a month ago and less hours so I will still have lots of time to spend with the kids, which I have enjoyed immensely since been out of work.
Couldn't have come at a better time.
Made up

Would like to thank all those who offered a chin up when I was made redundant which helped spur me on to getting myself back out there.

Today, more rain...

Edit:
The tropical depression turned into a Super Typhoon, 150MPH winds and lot's of rain.

That's two big strong typhoons in the same week.

It's a bit unusual even for Typhoon season, A big strong typhoon (Hurricane) on Tuesday and a Super Typhoon today, 150 MPH winds, it's center is a couple hundred miles north, but were getting strong winds and rain now.

Just got cleaned up after Tuesdays storm, lot's of down trees and power outages, etc.
Here we go again....

No basements, pretty good storm drainage where I'm at, just need to dodge the falling trees and branches.

Today, well... Tomorrow, i'll start a new rig sadly, since i don't have a lot of money to spend, i have to buy some parts tomorrow and then gather some money to buy the other parts. This will be the build:

- Core i3-2100 or Core i5-2300
- Corsair A70
- ASUS P8H61-M LE or Gigabyte GA-H61M-S2V-B3
- Corsair Vengeance DDR3-1600 (2 x 4GB)
- Thermaltake V3
- Thermaltake Thunderblade 120mm Fans
- Cooler Master eXtreme Power Plus 500w

For the HDDs/ODD and GFX i'll use my current ones, i'll probably buy a Crucial M4 SSD (64GB) over time, but i know i'll be capped at SATA II speeds. no big deal there.

Tomorrow i'll only buy the Case/PSU and probably 2 or 3 Fans, still don't know how many fans i'll use in this rig

Just now my pc is dragging as slow as thick mud..
I got amessage from MSN saying a bad connection had nothing to do with my pc.. so I'm guessing it's MSN doing something.
A good day otherwise... gorgeous blue skies.. cool temps.. I'm loving it.

Thanks to the EU prohibiting the good old light bulbs, a simple thing like purchasing a 60W light bulb has become a big nuisance.
Fortunately I managed to find a suitable light bulb this morning - there were hardly any remaining. They're going like hot buns.

Today, while I was checking out my e-mails at uni, I was rather creeped out to see a guy who had kind of stalked me last term sitting just a computer or two away from me. I pretended that he was air and left the room with a bunch of other people, and I was fortunately not followed this time. Last time was different, because the corridor and stairs were completely empty, and he'd stop when I stopped, resume walking when I resumed my pace, and just hang around near me and stare at me...I would have liked throwing an escargot at him ;-) It was really creepy.

That's not cool at all. Maybe you should carry this around with you.

Well, thank goodness you weren't born, for instance, during the 17th century ;-) The French noblemen used to wear heels.

High heels shoes are helpful for short people, increase the "spirit".

They're also really good when you want to bestow a particularly painful kick on someone

Athene,
I did try them on but each time I took a step the heel fell out of place.
Should be modified with a sharper nail puncturing the heel.

panais

That sounds extremely painful, Dennis! But maybe Panais (since those are his heels) can give you a foot rub with some pistachio foot cream!

Today, shod with the same high heels as yesterday, I discovered that my footwear is very good for accompanying the beat of a particularly rhythmic song - tap tap tap tap tap tap. Fortunately, everyone else in the computer room was wearing headphones and could not hear the clacking from my corner :-)
PS: Just discovered a garden lizard scuttling around the computer room...again!

Lol! No, just getting them used to high heels again. I wore flat shoes for too long, so to say. Didn't do much walking today, so the pedal complaints were minimal :-)

Lol!!! What are high heels for me are flat shoes for other people...seriously :-) The highest heel I'm willing to wear is 7.5 centimetres*. Anything above that is just asking for a twisted ankle, especially if you have to walk across cobbles and run for the bus nearly every day ;-D

It is currently hiding between the floor and the wall, with only the tip of its head poking out. Please don't hurt the lizard!!

Also is good think to have a lizard or geko around.

No mosquitoes or flies.

My fearless uneducated guess is one or both of your tie-rods has failed...unfortunately, that could be a pricey repair, unless you are friendly with a mechanic. Sorry to hear it!

StalkeR

Lol Dennis !

Thanks giuys,I get it to a mechanic sooner as I can,so I'll see what would be..

Joan Archer

Hubby has just had his car go through it's MOT this week, he had a couple of new tyres on the front last month so they were OK but this year the break pipes had to be changed and a suspension socket put back in place.

He's still waiting for a replacement fitting from the manufacturers so that the repair the AA man did on the gear lever can be fixed properly, but at least that's not part of the test so didn't matter, it's held up by wire and plastic ties at present.

I just hope I won't have to get rid of as many paper stacks as after my MA exams...This is the amount of paper which accumulated in my cupboard during my good old student years...*gulp*

Interesting your comment on self-discipline.....if I'd only had that when I was still of school age, things would have turned out much differently for me than they did....instead, I lived in a bottle for 20 years.
But you pulled yourself out Randy. I suspect that may be harder than a PhD. Good on ya

Thought provoking...

The Stranger

A few years after I was born, my Dad met a stranger who was new to our small town. From the beginning, Dad was fascinated with this enchanting newcomer and soon invited him to live with our family. The stranger was quickly accepted and was around from then on.

As I grew up, I never questioned his place in my family. In my young mind, he had a special niche. My parents were complementary instructors: Mom taught me good from evil, and Dad taught me to obey.

But the stranger... he was our storyteller. He would keep us
spellbound for hours on end with adventures, mysteries and comedies.

If I wanted to know anything about politics, history or science, he always knew the answers
about the past, understood the present and even seemed able to predict the future! He took my family to the first major league ball game. He made me laugh, and he made me cry. The stranger never stopped talking, but Dad didn't seem to mind.

Sometimes, Mom would get up quietly while the rest of us were shushing each other to listen to what he had to say, and she would go to the kitchen for peace and quiet. (I wonder now, if she ever prayed for the stranger to leave.)

Dad ruled our household with certain moral convictions, but the stranger never felt obligated to
honor them. Profanity, for example, was not allowed in our home - not from us, our friends or
any visitors. Our long time visitor, however, got away with four-letter words that burned my ears and made my dad squirm and my mother blush.

My Dad didn't permit the liberal use of alcohol but the stranger encouraged us to try it on a regular basis. He made cigarettes look cool, cigars manly, and pipes distinguished. He talked freely (much
too freely!) about sex. His comments were sometimes blatant, sometimes suggestive, and generally embarrassing..

I now know that my early concepts about relationships were influenced strongly by the stranger. Time after time, he opposed the values of my parents, yet he was seldom rebuked... And NEVER asked to leave.

More than fifty years have passed since the stranger moved in with our family. He has blended right in and is not nearly as fascinating as he was at first. Still, if you could walk into my parents' den today, you would still find him sitting over in his corner, waiting for someone to listen to him talk and watch him draw his pictures.

His name?....

We just call him 'TV.'
(Note: This should be required reading for every household!)
He has a wife now....we call her 'Computer.'
Their first child is "Cell Phone".
Second child "I Pod "

As you all know.. October is Breast Cancer awareness month..

" Mammogram Court " article .

While conducting some business at the Court House, I overheard a lady, who had been arrested for assaulting a Mammogram Technician, say, "Your Honor, Im guilty but . . . there were extenuating circumstances."

The female judge said, sarcastically, "I'd certainly like to hear those extenuating circumstances. I did, too, so, I listened as the lady told her story.

"Your Honor, I had a mammogram appointment, which I actually kept. I was met by this perky little clipboard carrier smiling from ear to ear and she tilted her head to one side and crooned, "Hi! I'm Belinda! All I need you to do is step into this room right here, strip to the waist, then slip on this gown. Everything clear?"

I'm thinking, "Belinda, try decaf. This ain't rocket science." Belinda then skipped away to prepare the chamber of horrors.

With the right side finished, Belinda flipped me (literally) to the left and said, "Hmmmmm. Can you stand on your tippy toes and lean in a tad so we can get everything?" Fine, I answered.

I was freezing, bruised, and out of air, so why not use the remaining circulation in my legs and neck to finish me off? My body was in a holding pattern that defied gravity (with my other breast wedged between those two 4 inch pieces of square glass) when I heard and felt a zap!

Complete darkness, the power was off!

Belinda said, "Uh-oh, maintenance is working, bet they hit a snag" Then she headed for the door.

"Excuse me! You're not leaving me in this vise alone are you?" I shouted.

Belinda kept going and said, "Oh, you fussy puppy. . . the door's wide open so you'll have the emergency hall lights. I'll be right back."

Before I could shout NOOOO! She disappeared. And that's exactly how Bubba and Earl, "maintenance men Extraordinaire" found me . . half-naked with part of me dangling from the Jaws of Life and the other part smashed between glass.

After exchanging a polite Hi, how's it going type greeting, Bubba (or possibly Earl) asked, to my utter disbelief, if I knew the power was off.

Trying to disguise my hysteria, I replied with as much calmness as possible, "Uh, yes, I did but thanks anyway."

"Ok, you take care now," Bubba replied and waved good-bye as though I'd been standing in the line at the grocery store.

Two hours later, Belinda breezes in wearing a sheepish grin. Making no attempt to suppress her amusement, she said, "Oh I am sooo sorry! The power came back on and I totally forgot about you! And silly me, I went to lunch. Are we upset?"

And that, Your Honor, is exactly how her head ended up between the clamps . . "

The judge could hardly contain her laughter as she said "Case Dismissed!".

Came across a large ladybug in dire straits, lying on its back with twitching legs and one wing sticking out of its wing-case. After I carefully flipped it back onto its stomach, it proceeded to wander around the sill in a rather drunken manner, stopping every now and then to retract its trapped wing - without success. My hopes concerning its survival were rather low.
Fifteen minutes later, when I returned to my room, I found it sitting happily on the wall, with that wing finally fully retracted. Right on cue, it spread open its wing-cases and zoomed out of the window to the neighbour's tree. A determined little creature!

You're quite the animal savior, aren't you?

noobvious

First wall lizards, then ladybugs...I wonder what will be next ;-)) I don't like to see the little critters suffer or experience discomfort, and helping them is usually such a straightforward matter. Our neighbour, by the way, is sure he saw a fox recently. Lots of animals are losing their habitat thanks to the building lobby, and they're wandering into human settlements. I've noticed that if a new house sprouts up, many birds will lose their lives flying against the glass - it can take a good year or two until they have adjusted their geography.

I am sorry to say that the rubbish bins at uni are not changed/cleaned out regularly. They do not even have a bin liner. The result: CLOUDS of drosophila flies sitting in the bins and feasting on the garbage. Nudge a bin with your foot, and a whole swarm of flies rises in protest. Today, I was forced to eat my lunch in another room after five or six flies kept circling my sandwich...

That is why I don't like to sit outdoors and eat in the summer....the bugs!

Guest

At least the bugs occur naturally in outdoor surroundings ;-D But indoors, they're breeding and breeding clandestinely in the garbage bins. The uni microwave, too, is filthy, coated with crumbs and a kind of crust which I dare not describe further...
And the uni computers have not been updated for six months, I think. The Firefox version installed on them is 3.6, for example...Sigh.

I work at a small restaurant, and you'd be amazed at what a microwave can look like even in one day's time.....we have to clean them out twice a day. So I can imagine what that one might look like.

The microwave over here has not been cleaned out for a year or more, I think There's a dark gritty substance coating the insides...

You can ask. Everyone does it.

I use to own a '96 Accord LX that was given to me back in 2003 as a graduation gift from my grandparents. I made that username everywhere and kept it.

I purchased my 2007 Subaru Impreza WRX in May 2007 and I didn't want to change my username everywhere so I kept that username and continued to use it (I only have one other username on another forum and it's bootyluvr lol)

That is my WRX in the avatar She's definitely not stock!

Why would anhybody need a bicycle when they have a car

Arc

Well, it's admittedly easier to keep fit if you've got a bike...especially when you've got to cycle uphill, then you've got to get those pedals going :-D The Swiss adore bikes ;-)) They are even designed in such a manner that people have enough place to fasten baskets to the carrier :-D
Oh...and when there's a big construction site blocking the whole road, you can often slink past on your bike while cars have to give a turn and search for another route...
And a bike is considered more environmental-friendly ;-)

The Howling Wolves

Keep fit???? sorry you've lost me there.

It may be more environmentally friendly but no fun when trying to run tree huggers overs.

Lol! Yes, it does...and the drilling machine is right outside our house, so my table has started vibrating even harder...Fortunately there'll be peace over the weekend...but even that's not a given, because the workers are behind their work, so they pop up on the occasional Saturday as well...

Today I builded my very first own builded pc!

Intel Core i5-2500K Processor
ASUS P8Z68-V PRO
Kingston DDR3 HyperX 1600MHz 8GB

-pc.jpg

Zen00

Grats on the build! Did it make your blood run hot, your skin sweaty, did you feel the power, the absolute power of being in control of your computer?! If not then building them isn't for you.

Incidently, I made this today.

By mistake, I bented the CPU pin. Made me be wet and say in myself.. "THIS IS YOUR ONLY CHANCE".. "I'll have to buy a new one". So yea, boiled blood made it though. When I saw the ON-light when I powered it up, I felt safed.

My luck made it out. It's all back normal

How do you like the cabling? I had to break some clickies to get the Graphic Card in because of one single cable. But who cares, I don't use those clickies, but screws.

Zen00

Cabling is messy and annoying and takes a huge effort to get invisible. I've done a good job in my case, but it's still not perfect the way I'd like. This is mostly because my system doesn't have hole in all the right places for the cables that I have.

Today, I've returned home from a weeks vacation in wonderfully sunny Tenerife

boohbah

welcome back john, i trust your trip wasn't stopped short this time.

today my three year old son is recovering from a minor op that descended his left testicle, the poor little bugger,
it (the testicle) is now stiched to his sack to hold it down temporarily.
and i wince every time i change his nappy/diaper as one half of his sack is very dark blue bruised.

he is feeling slightly better now as the pain killers are working but he cries every time he coughs.

z3r010

Nope, this time we managed the full week

Yikes. Ouch.

I'm up earlier this morning, waiting for New Zealand and Australia to meet in the rubgy league 4 nations match this morning. The match-up between England and Australia should be a good bell-ringer next week - hope Adrian Morley is up to his usual standards.

Hi guys, do you still remember me?
Sorry for my absense. I was very busy this month due to work, night shifts, family issues, etc. I had an accident on 24th OCt at night when I was coming back from home. My left leg and shoulder were hurt but my phone screen was completely damaged so I had no access to the internet most of the time in this week.

We (Me and my lovely wife) both work in the same office but due to different building and shift timings, we meet once in a day. So here I am, saying "Hello" to everybody. I will try to be around most often like before. Just need some time to sort out a simple thing called "Life".

Regards,
Dinesh.

Good to see you posting again, I've been busy the last couple of weeks as well, it's a shame but it happens.

Hope your feeling better, be careful on those roads, as I know what they are like.

Hello folks, today I m as usual, working on a Sunday. Initially, I thought it is going to be fun at the office as there will be very less calls on weekend... But I was completely wrong. Our Irish customer just love us and do not forget to ring us for slightest problems with their phones.

Luckily, tomorrow I m home on account of Halloween.

How is/was your weekend guys?

Have a good time, Dinesh

Today is the last day of my one month long Durgapuja vacation .... and from Monday I will be at work . It feels good that I will be back in action again, and at the same time it feels bad that I am to jump back in the routine life again !

Is that when they ship us off to the nursing home or after we drop over????

I got a few words to go with that vacation that I'll not post on the forum.
I beleive Country Joe McDonald and the Fish had a spelling game in one of their songs that fits well.

Of course Dennis will get a new suit when the time comes. It has looong sleeves on it!

Baroness von Shush

Hi guys, hope you are all well.

After my last disasterous failed attempt of a holiday...(I got rice poisoning on day 2 of what was supposed to be mine and john's ten year wedding anniversary getaway (not sure if John had something to do with that lol) and subsequently came home early... I continued to be ill for a few months after!)

However, thankfully, I have just returned from my recent holiday with John and Hannah and managed a whole seven days!

Thanks for all the mockery and congratulatory comments!

It's nice to have you back with us Baroness, we've missed you. Glad the holiday went off well this time and you all enjoyed it now it's back to the grindstone.

Ok I need some clarification here. Recently I read a post in which John (our admin) stated he had gone with his family for holidays. And you you said the same including John in your post. So does that mean you both went together?

May be its my fault not being here regularly so I must have missed something really big... Pardon my ignorance.

Did ours last weekend, here in the UK it's the end of October to change the clocks back, like you I do ours before going to bed, although I'd probably be up at 2am but not awake enough to go round changing clocks.

No chance of me getting up at 2am to change the clocks

Dwarf

Fortunately, my watch automatically adjusts when it synchronizes with the radio time transmitter overnight so that isn't a problem for me. The FreeView boxes also adjust automatically, so they aren't a problem either. It's the others that can cause problems, in that you think you've got them all, only to discover a day or so later that you've forgotten one! In my case, it's usually the one in the car. Fortunately, this time I didn't have to change the clocks at work. There are nearly 30 of them.

A lot of our things do the change themselves but not the microwaves or the heating controls, have a few clocks that have to be changed as well and this time the only one I forgot until a couple of days later was the wall clock in hubby's office.

Mint is cool ... undoubtedly . But it matches with Windows OSs a lot . As a regular windows OS user , I prefer ubuntu as a break

StalkeR

Yes,Mint is great. This new version works very fast and it have option to search in start menu, like in Windows Vista/7/8.

Yes.

I remember having big marital problems with my first wife because of mushrooms. I found some nice mushrooms, made a soup but because I was not sure I invited my then mother-in-law to lunch, gave her some soup and just sat there waiting and looking her to eat, making some notes, asking her if she likes the soup or if there's any oddities.

The problems started when my wife stepped in to dining room just when I finished writing my notes after mother-in-law had finished her soup. My wife took the note from my hand and read it loud:

"Test subject seems to be OK, no visible changes or symptons. Subject tells soup tasted OK, also the aftertaste being quite pleasant. Conclusion: these mushrooms are not poisonous and can be eaten by humans, too."

We divorced a few months later.

We should all be thankful for our veterans' service.....both those who came back whole and those who paid the ultimate price. Let's also remember those who have been injured. Thanks to advances in medical procedures and technology, many of these brave men and women injured in combat survive now that would have died in decades past......and face incredible challenges dealing with their injuries for the rest of their lives.

Today, I talked to the Tech Guy from work and there's a slight chance that I got a bad processor because of the high temps it shows (45C idle and 70C load) with similar room temps and stock everything (voltages and cooling), we took an i5-2300 today and it was super cool (28C idle and 54C full load) so there's a chance that the processor is a little damaged in some way... I'm going to take the processor there to do some tests.. good thing is that we ran out of i5-2310 so if the processor i got is a bad one, i'll get a free upgrade to an i5-2500 for free but still i like my processor

Today, I was brutally ripped out of my sleep by the most dreadful racket emanating from the enormous construction site in our street. When I ventured outside on my bike, I was forced to make a big detour because the road was blocked. Then, on switching to the public transport, we had to wait for about fifteen minutes because - you guessed it - the road was blocked further ahead. Finally, for the last lap, I ascended the bus, looking forward to a hitch-free ride.
Due to another road blockage, the bus had to change its route and spill us out onto the nearest tram...after which I finally arrived at uni with the minimum of patience and the maximum of wrath.
And since the autumn fair stalls were being taken down and loaded into vans, thus clogging up the footpaths, we had to walk in the middle of the road with annoyed cyclists swerving and swooping around us.

Yesterday hmm? When was that? I forget.

Forget what? My memory has never been the same since I got married all those years ago...................

Happy Thanksgiving, Hoppy. I hope you have a good day.

Yesterday I told myself not to forget what I need to do tomorrow.
Tomorrow is here and what I told myself late yesterday that what I was to do tomorrow wasn't that important
so now today I forgot what were we talking about.

I am sure Hoppy will remember and bring me up to date!

Four out of six of my "voices" say they forgot.

One wasn't listening yesterday and the other was sleeping.

Dwarf

I'm a bit confused about the definition of Today. Is it Tomorrow's Yesterday or is it Yesterday's Tomorrow ?

Joan Archer

Dwarf, just listen to the voices in your head, it can be either.

Kari

I thought tomorrow never comes.

As am I.

In one hour it is tomorrow, the same day Aussies and Kiwis have already now. But, in one hour, when I arrive to tomorrow where Aussies and Kiwis already are, my Yankee and Chico friends are still in yesterday. So in which day am I?

Confused...

Kari

Sometimes.

It is today now but can change at any moment.
It depends on what time zone my voices are in and what planet.

That's exactly why I don't like them. If I have a Monday off, I don't mind the day at all....but when I do have to work it, it's one of the more unpleasant days to work.

Dave76

Good morning, 08:06 here in the UK and I've just had my first cup of tea of the day.

It's a cold and foggy start to the day, but now that I'm retired, Monday just blends into the week like any other day.

Lucky you

Guest

You can say that again.

My wife and I were lucky enough to receive occupational pensions to top-up our state pensions.

We'll never be rich, but we still have each other and a comfortable lifestyle, so in that sense we consider ourselves very fortunate.

It is young people just starting out and young families struggling to make ends meet that we feel for.

Wishing everyone a wonderful Joy filled Thanksgiving this year,
I know so many are having a very hard time..making ends meet,
with many mouths to feed, cloth and shelter.
May your family and friends help those who have less than we do.
Point then to the churches where they can take part in free meals this year,
go help serve all those who need to know we care.
Our community will feed countless people this Thanksgiving Day.
We are so blessed!!!!

Very nice.

MilesAhead

I added a little kludge to my HalfShell utility for FreeCommander 2009.02b

HalfShell opens folders selected in Explorer either using SysWow64\explorer.exe on a 64 bit system, explorer.exe in 32 bit system, or you can use an alternative file manager(shell) and it will open folders using that program.

If FreeCommander is the "Alternative Shell" in use when HalfShell is in Alternative Shell mode, it used to just launch FreeCommander.exe with 1 or 2 folders listed on the command line. Now if more than 2 folders are selected it will use a macro to open them in new tabs.

To show what I mean, here's an Explorer window with 7 folders selected:

-explwin.png

At this point if you hit Shift-Enter FreeCommander ends up like this:

-fcshot.png

(Note the right hand side has 6 folder tabs.)

If FreeCommander is already running then all the folders are added as new tabs on the side that has the focus when the window is activated. This is, of course, provided you didn't change the key bindings. Control-t to open a new tab and Alt-g to open the edit line for the tab.

Just a kludge but fun.

Today\now i eat dried cherry's,(i like them and they are very nutrition),and i just notice the USA flag on the package.

Today, I traipsed round our local supermarket and moaned at the ditherers, the long queue at the deli counter, the even longer queues at the checkouts, to such a degree my wife flatly refused to buy me a coffee afterwards.

As I see it, I've got three choices:
  1. Don't go to the supermarket again and risk a divorce.
  2. Go, but don't moan; difficult one there.
  3. Get a divorce and eat out every day.
I think number 3 just shades it.

My favorite time to go to the supermarket is midnight....then nobody is dilly-dallying around and in my way. Of course, that wouldn't work for everyone.....you and your wife may well be sleeping at midnight....lol.

Tews and Bongo

You and others are an inspiration to some of us.

My bad days may be good days for you.
That keeps my perspective focused.

If you can make it through your bad days my bad days are a breeze in comparison.
Mine could always be worse.

Hang in there mates.

After several days of tropical temperatures at home thanks to our whacko heating, a heating guy came out to check the problem and fixed it (he told us that the previous heating guy had made a complete mess of the system). It will take two or three days for the building to cool down, after which I will no longer have to wear T-shirts indoors when it is minus temperatures outside, and my plants can finally hibernate...and so can I ;-)

Not sure if anyone noticed my absence, but I've been on camp for the last few days. We had to canoe roughly 60km down the Murray River. Each night we set up camp and then start out the next day. 'Twas a great experience, though a bit 'rough'.

Yes ! Carl, next time your post should be on Gracie !!

We dont want to know about the charity shop, windows installations, bla bla ....
Inform us the facts of Gracie's walking, your driving, and pole dancing

Kari

It must be Monday today...

First thing this morning, I fell in the shower, hurting my forehead and arm really bad (for those who know the story, my balance is still not very good). Then, a mug of hot coffee, ready to enjoy the first sip when out of nothing the mug decides it's time to depart from its bottom part. The bottom of the mug just fell onto my lap, spilling hot coffee to my bathrobe, stomach and thighs.

Booted laptop, checked Seven Forums. PM from admins, I have received an infraction and am now on parole . OK, I deserved it but still it's hurting. Checked news, jumped to car and drove Erfurt 160 km / 100 miles away. Halfway through, a place I know really well, a few kilometers stretch of 130 km/h speed limit on an otherwise no speed limit Autobahn, a speed camera I know very well took a photo of me driving about 180 km/h. Oh what a s***ty letter I will receive when they have developed the film .

It's only 11:20 AM at the moment. How will this day end?

Please someone confirm it is Monday today, at least somewhere in the Universe.

Kari

noobvious

That is one bummer after another Kari.....perhaps you'd better find a hiding place for the rest of the day!

Gracie passed the driving test.
Carl is on his 5th instructor.

Today i got a new LCD Monitor.

An LG W2353V: 1920 x 1080 resolution, 2ms response, 50.000:1 contrast ratio, VGA/DVI-D/HDMI/Audio outputs and all the fancy stuff (tactile buttons), and pretty cheap actually

Sad thing is that it didn't come with a DVI-D cable, only VGA the other sad part is that i don't have enough room to put it in my actual table... the new is on its way, so until i don't have my new PC module i won't be able to hook it up any ideas for a good quality DVI-D cable? i've always used VGA.

Haha thank you, LPT.

Actually yes, christmas came early, utilities were paid today (like 30mins ago) and i actually got a bargain, since i work in a Electronics/PC store, i get employees discount, besides, the owner is a good friend of mine so i get a little bit better discounts now i need a new PC module, because my actual one won't fit the 23" LCD, and it has already 6 years, it's starting to get old i was thinking about this one

40" (wide) x 48" (tall) x 24" (depth)

I guess that'll fill my needs
