Create win 7 install disk part 1

xxxdannyxxx

Hello all
Is it possible for me to create a windows 7 home premium install disk for my pre installed acer laptop.I have of course made the recovery and factory disks but need to restore my machine preferably without the junk an acer factory reset will put back on. Reading up i see i need to burn my iso file to dvd. Sounds good to me but i cannot find it and am not sur if i even have one lol. I have found a download for it (3gig) is it save to use this then enter my product key during install.Any help would be appreciated
Thankyou

I assume the 3 gig file is from MS directly (of course) that sounds about the size of the win 7 64 bit dvd. It needs to be burned to dvd in that format. Dont extract the files and folders first.

During install you would need to enter your legit key for the version you are installing

Am i right in thinking that i dont have one already just to save me downloading that file.

Not unless a disc came with your computer, no, probably not... and be careful where you get your download from..

Ok thankyou guys looks like options are pay again from mircosoft or get a dodgy free version.Dont think its worth risking. For the sake of some unnistalling of the junk acer put on there factory default disks i would rather keep things legal and proper.Glad i asked now
Thanx guys great advise as always

A good decision! Keep things on the up and up!

Hello Danny.

You don't know someone that has the same version as you that will let you use their disk to do the install with and use your Acer key to activate with; even if you had to do this?

Activate Windows 7 by Phone

Here is an approach that will work and cost you only the cost of DVDs/External USB

1. Make a System Repair CD (can also be a DVD)
2. Use Windows Backup And Restore to do a System Image backup of your system to either DVDs or an External USB.

Now I've never used DVDs for this but have used External USB.

You will always be able to restore your system using that System Repair Disk and the System Image which you stored on an external usb or DVDs

CREATE A SYSTEM REPAIR DISK
START | type System Repair | Enter key | Create Disk button
CREATE AND RESTORE A SYSTEM IMAGE
CREATE A SYSTEM IMAGE BACKUP
START | type Backup your computer | Enter key
In left-hand pane, select Create a System Image
select where you want to save the backup | Next
Select the drives you want to backup | Next
Start Backup button
Finish button after completion

RESTORE A SYSTEM IMAGE BACKUP
Boot from the System Repair CD you created.
Connect the external drive with the backup image
NEXT button (change language if desired)
Restore your computer using a system image
that you created earlier
radio button
NEXT button
Use the latest available system image radio button
NEXT button
Format and repartition disks checkbox
NEXT button
FINISH button
YES button
CLONE A DISK
Yes, you can use the Create & Restore steps listed above when you want to replace your hard disk with one of same or larger size.
