According to another post this is how you fix that problem.

Open recording devices.
Right click and make sure there is a check next to "Show Disabled Devices"
In the list find "What U Hear" right click it and set it as default.

Record your sounds!

Sorry but that is the only solution for that problem so far. I would mess with the settings more as it appears to be a settings problem more than anything else. You might want to search for the Daniel K drivers for your soundcard because people are having better luck recording with them.

Audigy what?

The original Audigy series as well as the 2 and 4 all use the same driver, whereas the Audigy SE/LS/DE/Value all use a completely different driver.

Right click on the Windows speaker icon in the systray and select Recording devices. The right click and make sure that both "show disabled" and "show disconnected" devices is checked, then it should show up.

I get an echo effect when I enable "What U Hear". Any way to resolve this?

I have no mic, in fact I have all recording devices disabled.

I just resolved my own issue. In case anyone else experiences this problem it can be fixed by opening the "What U Hear" properties. In the Listen tab uncheck Listen to this device.

so you got "What u hear" to work with windows 7? What is your soundcard

I have an Audigy SE. When I first installed the software from the included disk the what U hear function worked. Later it was missing and I could no longer record. I think the auto update program replaced the previous drivers and no longer included this function. I removed all the creative software and reinstalled it from the disk, displayed and enabled the what U hear function in the control panel. I then removed the auto update software using the windows control panel. Everything works fine now. I am using Audacity to record.

I use WM Capture running Window 7 Ultimate x64. I like the feature of recording the audio that passes through the sound card... What U Hear or Stereo Mix! As you well know some sound Blaster cards do not support this. I have the Sound Blaster X-Fi Xtreme Audio Card ... well forget it with this card.. I'm 65 and my hearing isn't what it used to be... I think the best solution is to buy a new sound card from Turtle Beach. I like the Montego DDL but the Riviera works also and is cheaper. this will allow you to record what passes through your speakers.
