Windows won't update at all part 1

Irunongames

Hello, for the past few months (maybe 3) windows has not been updating. Why is that and how can I fix it? Can I install them manually?

Lebon14

For the first error (Error code 800703EE), check this link : Error code 800703EE
For the second error (Error code 800B0100), check this link : Windows Update error 800B0100

Hope it helps and keep us informed

Hello Irunongames,

In addition, you might see if resetting Windows Update may help.

Hope this helps,
Shawn

Additionally turn off firewall and any download accelerator if you have and try install updates again. If none of above posts help, run Readiness Tool Description of the System Update Readiness Tool for Windows Vista, for Windows Server 2008, for Windows 7, and for Windows Server 2008 R2 and next find CheckSur.log file in C:\Windows\Logs\CBS folder and attache this file to post

Jacee

Here us the CBS file - NONE of the recommended fixes worked

I need CheckSur.log not CBS.log! To have CheckSur.log in C:\Windows\Logs\CBS folder you have to run Readiness Tool first..

Jacee

Just on the off chance ... have you scanned with an Anti-virus and Anti-malware program?

Woops, sorry, got a bit confused. This should be the one you need.

Edit - I checked for viruses - In fact the whole reason why I started the thread was because ESET said that my computer was at risk.

I strongly suspect that you have a virus.

Now I'm going to a procedure which a security expert might find draconian, but the procedure has never failed me.

VIRUS and MALWARE REMOVAL / PROTECTION
1. Download MalwareBytes. Malwarebytes
2. Disconnect from the Internet.
3. Disable your present antivirus software and firewall.
4. Remove your present antivirus software and firewall.
5. Install and run the MalwareBytes Quick Scan (remove any bad guys). 3min 29secs on my laptop.
6. Reconnect to Internet.
7. Update MalwareBytes.
8. Run malwarebytes quick scan again.(remove any bad guys). 3min 38secs on my laptop.
9. Run MalwareBytes full scan. 16min 8secs on my laptop. With large, full disk ~2hours.
A. Disable your present antivirus software and firewall
B. Remove your present antivirus software
C. Download Microsoft Security Essentials.
http://www.microsoft.com/security_essentials/
D. Run Microsoft Security Essentials. Quick Scan - ~8 min on my laptop.
E. Run Microsoft Security Essentials. Full Scan - ~ 1hr 50 min on my laptop.
Now I advise you to uninstall MalwareBytes and only install again when and if you need it.
Why?, you ask. Leaving MalwareBytes installed slowed my system. AutoRuns showed MalwareBytes processes running even after exiting from MalwareBytes.

Irunongames,

Let me know when you've completed the procedure I gave.

Guest

Guys. It's NOT a virus. I use malwarebytes daily and ESET only says theirs a risk that a virus can get into windows but it would (obviously) take care of it. Flavious found the error and I will get back to you guys after I attempt the fix.
