You can make you sig 650 x 100 pixels in size.
Are you starting your sig with a transparent background?
Anyway looks good and increasing to max size will make it jump out...

Thanks I am not that new I have been around, on and off I have been using photoshop for about 4 years roughly, the website reduced the size of my signature because there is no way I can use 650x100 because the canvas size was bigger than the actual signature and I used a transparent background and saved as a png. the website just gave it the white background,

As it is much bigger than the allowed size, the forums tool resized it while uploading .... and thus it lost transparency . You are to make it in 650x100 pixels .

I also know PooManUK posted a version with flags but it is buried somewhere in one of the Custom Made Sig and Avatar threads. In fact if you have time to quickly skim the last couple of Custom Made Sig and Avatar threads a treasure trove can be found.

About the multi-quote issue Ciara, Do not despair I found out (after a long while) that the multi-quote button will not work if I have the Autopager add-on enabled when using Firefox. If I disable the add-on the the multi-quote works correctly.

Somewhere in this thread PooManUK created a psd version of the Seven Forum logo but with 6 different versions of flags as the background (british,USA etc). As I found the other link near the beginning of this thread it also may be nearby. As I stated earlier a treasure trove can be found in these threads graciously left by members of the GFX team.

Archie there is nothing wrong with your sig.
We can't please everyone with a newly made sig. The more eyes looking at a picture the more opinions one gets from it.
Look at the painting of Mona Lisa .....she is not smiling! Yet the painting is priceless.
Maybe she was having a bad hair day.

Hi all,
I've read the vast majority of the posts here and I must say that the work and talent is just fantastic!

May I impose upon someone to make a sig for me? I can picture it in my head but I have no experience or talent to make it real. I'm waiting for the day when we have direct mind connections to our computers

I'm picturing a black background with a glass effect and the name Lava King in smoke, grey or a fiery orange will be great for the text.

I'll attempt to attach what I intend to use as my avatar for any inspiration it may give . Any alterations to the avatar will be welcome.

A bit of background on the name, I play MS Golf 2003 quite a bit with a group of friends. One of the courses is in the desert so instead of rough there is a lot of lava rock. On one particularly bad day I seemed to be in the lava rock quite often and so became the Lava King.

May I impose upon someone to make a sig for me? I can picture it in my head but I have no experience or talent to make it real. I'm waiting for the day when we have direct mind connections to our computers

I'm picturing a black background with a glass effect and the name Lava King in smoke, grey or a fiery orange will be great for the text.

I'll attempt to attach what I intend to use as my avatar for any inspiration it may give . Any alterations to the avatar will be welcome.

A bit of background on the name, I play MS Golf 2003 quite a bit with a group of friends. One of the courses is in the desert so instead of rough there is a lot of lava rock. On one particularly bad day I seemed to be in the lava rock quite often and so became the Lava King.

I've never said there was something "wrong" with anybody's sig in the past and I won't start doing that now.. As you say, the more people look at something, the more opinions you'll get about it.

I could go on for hours about the Mosa Lisa, but I won't bore you with those details... Suffice to say, hardly anybody smiled in portrait paintings back then.

I'm not into making sigs though I do enjoy them.

As an outsider to this thread I think Dennis has a good idea.

I do understand the basics of the layering- very basic.
There must be a couple of hundred backgrounds floating around between all of you that are making them.
Plus all the layers everyone makes and saves.

It would make it easier making new sigs and allow some of the people new to the process to make sigs and learn the basics of the softwares you use- might even find some new GFX'ers.

Just an outsiders two cents.

As an insider on this thread I think the sharing of images is a good idea if everyone is up for it. I just hope it doesn't stifle the imagination of those creating unique sigs. So far the variety and innovation amaze me. I truly marvel at the different creations shared here. I like that, other than the obvious general size, and shape limitations, that you never know what you'll see next. The outside the box sigs especially, and extremely creative. A Guy

I think it would be a great if you all put some images into a special gallery that has strings attached. Like maybe something along these lines.

1. You have to earn membership into this club...
2. No one could see what is in the image gallery that has not reached a certain level.
3. I think the image club should have it's own tutorial...
4. The image club members should have something like points lets say it has it's own pips or something along those lines.
5. When members reach a certain level just like being a member of the forum you start with nothing and work your way up, then they can join the image club / sense there is no name for it at this point I think the Image club has a nice ring to it...
6. I would say that anyone can be a member of the sigs and avatars as long as they have a little talent and then from there on if they want to go higher then they have to earn it. first to show they want to be a club member and that they have what it takes to be a member...

Just a couple of thoughts, you people are great at this and you should have a special club of sorts.

My only intent on posting some of the backgrounds etc. would be to give someone who is software challenged or trying to learn a chance to assemble a sig and learn to use the software- which ever they choose.

If new people can get a grasp on the basics of the software then they can get creative.

That's not a big problem, Mike When I joined the forums , I knew nothing of graphics . It is the GFX team that built me up . I just followed all the instructions of the seniors .... every time !

I knew zero about graphics before joining 7 Forums so I watched, asked questions and started practicing with an old outdated graphic software program.
Then Nick came along and took me under his wing and became my mentor.

But , it is not the best alone. Either Photoshop accompanied by Illustrator, or CorelDraw Graphics Suit X5 is the best .

Edit : At the same time, CorelDraw is the toughest one !

Gimp or paint.net are free.
Adobe PS and Corel are for advanced users and they both have a 30 day trial period for you to check out.

Corel consists of more that one program this is why it comes across a bit more involved. If you were trying to just learn how to use Corel PhotoPaint alone you wouldn't find it any more difficult than PS. CorelDraw is a different kettle of fish as this is a vector based program with full support for bitmap editing included .... much better value for money in my opinion

I appreciate the replies, all. Believe it or not, I have an "antique" version of CorelDraw, won it as a door prize when I was a member of a PC User's group. It's a complete retail box with 3.5" floppies and a CD, version 5. I believe that I tried to install it under Windows XP rather recently and it seemed to resent being woken from its long sleep.

I've played around a bit with The GIMP in an Ubuntu install but didn't really get very far. However, tutorials are all over the net these days so my ignorance could probably be cured rather quickly

I'm thinking I'll probably give Paint.net a try. I'm more of a technical person than artistic, but one never knows...

I started with Photoshop when I was in college. It was part of my syllabus. Also had some knowledge in CorelDraw. I have been making sigs from the year 2003 and till now no turning back. After entry into SF, learned some more from CDR after Nick showed some beautiful sigs he made.

Have also tried Gimp, but I feel the menu is all scattered and never touched it again. No Paint.net either.

As far as the gallery is concerned, yes, we can go for it.

And glad Lava King liked my sig for him.

Just couldn't resist going there as I woke up stupid today.
Working on Daughter in Laws filthy dirty computer(cobwebs) inside then a whole bunch of other issues that Nick and I worked on yesterday.
Got her Pictures restored and Itunes to work but no sound.
After hours of trying to figure out what was wrong I looked my monitor and there underneath it was the control(DUH)
I had it turned off.....I am blooming stupid today. Don't ask me any technical ? today.....hehehe
