After I purchased it I asked myself now what am I going to do with it? It just takes time and practice. Neither of which I have patience for...heheheArc can be a big help with photoshop(when he has time!) Nick has been a godsend in helping me with Corel Draw.

Gimp is a fantastic program as it's free and I can guarantee you once you are comfortable with it the likes of PS and Corel will be pretty easy to work out ... you just gotta learn to walk before you run

- Sorry about the late reply ok might as well post all my sigs and avatars here but I find the sigs and avatars most harder to make as the real estate is MUCH smaller and using the right pics is harder...but as you can see I like my sigs to match with my avatars..or vice versa! LOL

Nick taught me a little trick in making perfect circles or orbs...
After selecting the circle tool hold the control key and then start dragging you circle tool. Then you can pull on the corners to enlarge or shrink the circle evenly...
This will make your logo's in your sig appear round not oblong.
Just a helpful hint if you so choose. Wax on Wax off type of lesson from the Master...

I have attached a Ribbon for those of you that want to display the "fight for MS" on your sig.

Left click on large ribbon(the with size underneath it)then once it opens do a right click and save as MS Ribbon or whatever. Now you have it saved and remember where you saved it.
Take your sig in Vista and just add the ribbon(you may have to reduce the size) someplace on your sig. I don't have Vista anymore or belong to Vista Forum.
May have to get help from someone in the Vista Forum.

Hello the pixel in vista can't be anymore then 600 by 100. My Sig is that size, all of you got togehter and made my sig with the white wolf and the colors of vista coming from his eyes which is beautiful. I don't have a way to resize the ribbon. Do I just try to paste it to my sig or how does that work.

i'll post my results back PooManUK( aka Nick) and I use Corel Draw Graphics Suite 5x. Got mine from E-Bay. Not nearly expensive as Photoshop.

Punkster mate, GIMP is as powerful as photoshop . A lot of professionals use it .... but it is a little bit difficult to operate, IMO .
If you want to buy a program, I'd suggest you to buy CorelDraw . It contains a vector editor and a bitmap editor (as you get Photoshop and Illustrator at once) , and not expensive like Adobe's programs. Moreover, there is Nick and all his wonderful tutorials life with graphics will be much easier

Just my suggestion As for myself I am trying to improve my work but it is a very slow and tedious learning curve as it is hard to grasp the concepts of working with the software (IE: I made the background of my Sig using patterns) which was done by pure luck but there is much more basic concepts to learn such as text manipulation, effects etc. before I could ever attempt to make a Sig for others, Also one must posses a certain level of artistic ability.
The reason I create a new Sig is because as stated above is to learn how to use the software and to see the result (for better or worse).

Hello and yes I know very well I should not ask but can someone give me some ideas for a americancritic / MS type of signature, I am still not grasping how to merge the two together so I was thinking about a new one so I can do something with it in Vista64. I am so sorry I forgot to tell everyone I have a new badge now it is (Vista Guru) and it is the black badge and supporter which is green so how do I get that changed on the sig. I was so exited about being able to put the new one on with the MS ribbon so I can maybe get something started in vista64 for THW I forgot to mention it I am very sorry, so please ARC forgive me for the slipup. I truly thank all of you for this I think the MS on there is important. I have been married for well like I don't know like a 100 years and just found out before I met my wife she used to go as a volunteer at the MS summer camps for kids, and she works very hard so I am just truly leaning about this horrible horrible illness, so what ever I can do I am on board, everyone just let me know.

Took me a long time just to do a simple sig.
I use Corel Draw Graphic Suite X5, have you tried reinstalling ?
You should save regularly, oh and check your event viewer logs for vital details that might help you resolve the problem

Whar's interesting is it does this on my laptop as well as desktop. Not networked together and use a thumb drive to transfer data over.
Yes both are updated with SP1.
Will check with Nick and see what he comes up with before I do a re-install.

After that , All the GFX guys helped me to improve myself, and the others like Derek and Randy and LPt and almost everybody encouraged me to improve myself . I was (and till now) readily ready to accept all suggestions and lessons .
It is PooMan who taught me almost all the important lessons including how to understand a design, how to plan a design and how to materialize it as I want . So I can do something nowadays . If you want, we all are ready to stand beside you at our best

Is it just me, or have there not been too many people coming to request new sigs lately? It seems these days you GFX people make more sigs for each other than anything else.. When I was part of the 'request a sig' thread over at the Mxit forums ages back, we'd have a list in the first post of close to 20 names for sig requests, and by the time we got through those, there were another 15 added to the list..

Just be more specific on what you want your sig to say about you!

Just had a random thought; if anybody wants something fractalius-ized... I do have the Redfield Fractalius PhotoShop plugin.
I've had quite a bit of time to play with it now, so if anyone's looking for that type of effect, send me the pic/PSD and I'll help out. For a few examples of what it can do, have a look at this Google image search.

As being allowed only one vote we are in agreement (especially z3r010) that the forum poll only allows one vote per poster anyways.

Are you starting your sig with a transparent background?

About the multi-quote issue Ciara, Do not despair I found out (after a long while) that the multi-quote button will not work if I have the Autopager add-on enabled when using Firefox. If I disable the add-on the the multi-quote works correctly.

As an outsider to this thread I think Dennis has a good idea.
I do understand the basics of the layering- very basic.
There must be a couple of hundred backgrounds floating around between all of you that are making them.
Plus all the layers everyone makes and saves.
It would make it easier making new sigs and allow some of the people new to the process to make sigs and learn the basics of the softwares you use- might even find some new GFX'ers.
Just an outsiders two cents.

As an insider on this thread I think the sharing of images is a good idea if everyone is up for it. I just hope it doesn't stifle the imagination of those creating unique sigs. 2. No one could see what is in the image gallery that has not reached a certain level.
3. I think the image club should have it's own tutorial...

My only intent on posting some of the backgrounds etc. would be to give someone who is software challenged or trying to learn a chance to assemble a sig and learn to use the software- which ever they choose.

But , it is not the best alone. Either Photoshop accompanied by Illustrator, or CorelDraw Graphics Suit X5 is the best .
Edit : At the same time, CorelDraw is the toughest one !

Corel consists of more that one program this is why it comes across a bit more involved. If you were trying to just learn how to use Corel PhotoPaint alone you wouldn't find it any more difficult than PS. CorelDraw is a different kettle of fish as this is a vector based program with full support for bitmap editing included .... much better value for money in my opinion

I've played around a bit with The GIMP in an Ubuntu install but didn't really get very far. However, tutorials are all over the net these days so my ignorance could probably be cured rather quickly

I started with Photoshop when I was in college. It was part of my syllabus. Also had some knowledge in CorelDraw. I have been making sigs from the year 2003 and till now no turning back. After entry into SF, learned some more from CDR after Nick showed some beautiful sigs he made.
Have also tried Gimp, but I feel the menu is all scattered and never touched it again. No Paint.net either.
As far as the gallery is concerned, yes, we can go for it.
And glad Lava King liked my sig for him.
